Comment to this post, and I will list five things I associate with you. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your LJ (or just add a reply back to me). Other people (including me) can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.
List from
jessica-eliza 1. Grey's Anatomy
GA was my first real dive into fandom. Sure, I'd had shows that I loved to watch before, but I never took that leap into discussing it with others, reading fanfiction, making graphics, etc. I don't know what drove me to do so in the first place, but I'm so glad that I did. I met some of my closest friends and some other amazing people. A handful of them I still talk to after 5 years, and the others I may never speak to again. In the end, it was all worth it...even though I have now given up on the show because it's just way too ridiculous. GA Season 2 all the way!
2. Kate Walsh
This woman is amazeballs! I probably first saw her as Nikki on The Drew Carey Show so many years ago, but I first really noticed on Grey's Anatomy. She has great acting chops, great comedic chops. She seems like a really great person all around. Beautifully gorgeous, and she has a fragrance I'd actually want (and have)! Only thing that sucks about her being so mainstream now is that she's flocked some really crazy fangirls. Sorry, but I'm a bit elitest. Peeps who didn't love her in 2006 and earlier should not be calling her their 'wifey'...hell, no one should other than the person she's married to.
3. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd
I...could probably write an essay about Addison. There has never been a fictional character that I could find myself relating to more, despite never really experiencing the things that she did. I'm not a neonatal surgeon. I never cheated on my husband with his best friend. I'm not going to go into the shenanigans that happen in Private Practice because she isn't even the same character anymore. I really put it all up to Kate Walsh's amazing portrayal of this character. It was the small nuances, all the emotion behind her eyes. I just love Addison. She's flawed. She fought for love. She's pretty kickass in the OR. The list goes on and on. <3
4. Addison/Derek
Addek is my ultimate OTP. They're not just my OTP in the GA fandom; they're my one true pairing in all of time. They were so dysfunctional, and we all knew they were doomed from the start, but they were just so real. It wasn't fairytale love. There was no riding off into the sunset. They had a raw, rocky relationship that could have been fleshed out so much better if the writing didn't go to shit and if they had ever gotten a real chance at surviving. Loving Addek is how I found some of the loveliest women I now call my close friends. There were a lot of tears, there was A LOT of laughter, but like Addek, it was all very real and true to life. It was worth fighting for. Addek Summer 2006 forever!
5. Fan fiction!
I feel like I owe fanfic a lot. It allowed me to cope not only with what was happening in canon, but also with life. I could delve into the characters and explore their emotions while dealing with my own. Again, before 2006, I didn't know such a thing existed. Who knew there were so many passionate fans at the ready to fix the things the writers messed up or fill in the blanks :). Just wish that there were a) more good fic writers and b) some of the happy endings we got in fic would become canon.
