Otakon was the usual running around like crazy, changing, pictures, changing, scurrying around, finding people at inopportune times, meeting awesome people, and then having a blast after dinner. I think that this may have been one of the best Otakons I've been to- everyone was exceptionally great. I didn't feel like babysitting my camera, so I

Your recent post about Katsu cracked me up, btw. I'm telling you, the motivational pictures really help.

I won't be able to do up my room until mid-August, but once I get the pictures up, I'll snap a shot just for you guys to lol at.

I've come to the conclusion that my sigma lens is SHIT though. I played with it for a good hour today trying to get consistently in-focus pictures and have decided that it's pretty much impossible. It didn't help that I had it stuck on f/1.4 when you were taking photos. Sorry. u_u So really, it's my fault. They were all framed very nicely, just AUGHLENS ruined it.
Have you ever used any of the Canon L series lenses? I was kind of considering selling all of my lenses and accessories to get one... either way, I think I need a nice zoom that doesn't suck monkey ass like my current one.
OH I would love to see what your room looks like all decorated motivational-like. Glad you got to lol at our apartment while it was decorated.

I've never used the L series, but I have studied up on them. They're very very nice, but I prefer my 50mm 1.4 prime lens. I know they USED to make a 50mm 1.0 lens, but that goes for like $2k, hasn't been in production for a LONG time, and was almost considered more of a gimmick.
They always have rebate programs on the L lenses every 4-6 months or so, want me to give you the heads up when the next one takes place?

Sorry :( I really do blame the lens though- I love the way your photos come out normally and I've been irritated with this lens for a while.
Basically I'm a retard and I can't decide what I want to use it for. At the moment I take most of my pictures indoors so the fast lens is nice to have- but I'm realizing I could probably sell the ARGHSigma with some filters for the price of one of the cheaper zooms. The 70-200mm f/4 L is looking kind of nice... I've got no idea. I know I'll change my mind in five minutes.

I love photography talk so I'm ALL UP IN THIS CHAT. f/4 will make it reallly tough to do indoor photography without a tripod, but you know that. It'll look super nice though. How about an external flash with a wireless release for indoor stuff?

I had no idea the balloon shoot was with natural light from a window. Nice!
I find with 50mm it can feel fairly cramped, so yeahhhh, 70mm is really going to be a problem. If you haven't gone lens shopping the next time I see you, I could let you borrow my 50mm 1.4 for a day or so, you could give it a whirl.
... I just checked on Amazon and they have a 50mm 1.2 L lens. WHEN THE HELL DID THAT COME OUT. Ugh, I need to check on reviews of that bad boy. Maybe something like the 24-70mm 2.8 L would work for you?

I think there's a 25-105mm or so, but it's a 4 L. Goddamn trade-offs!
Nah, I still have both my lenses. The Canon 50mm 1.4, and the Sigma 10-22 ... something. I forget the aperture on that one. They're both really nice. The lenses kind of just sit around in my room, just waiting for the day I get a new camera. I'd gladly bring by one or both if you wanted to try them out. As for renting, it's great! Or at least buying from a merchant that has a REALLY GOOD return policy and abusing that. I can give you some tips in that regard too.

Yeah, I hate the trade-offs. Then when you finally find something that looks like a good mix of everything you might want it's major $$$$$$.
