Dec 03, 2006 22:35

This episode is a *great* follow-on to the absolutely exquisite pilot. This episode has several scenes that absolutely make me laugh out loud! And we get introduced to Elaine Besbris, Huey and Gardino, Beau Starr as Welsh. All so awesome ( Read more... )

Yeah, Elaine *rocks*!!

Fraser's reaction to the women who are interested in him is a *hoot*! He goes between panic and absolute oblivion.

Oh, and the "she shot my hat" scene is up on youtube. It's fantastic.

Oh, yes, of course. I'm sorry, I forgot to put in my standard "Feel free" clause at the end there. Thanks for calling that to my attention.

Just a little note on the hair: I guess the hair dresser couldn't keep his/her hands out of it.

I'm not sure what hotlinking is but I gather it's bad, so maybe it'd be nicer if you didn't.

Awww, you're so cute! *giggles* So endearing!

I really gotta rewatch Free Willie tonight!

That makes sense. If I had free license to legitimately touch any part of Paul Gross, I probably would find it had to stop too. :)

I really gotta rewatch Free Willie tonight!

Oh, yes, you should!! And then if you have any more thoughts you can come back and share. ;)

Maybe that's why it changes like FOUR TIMES PER EPISODE.

Why can't I have a job like that? :/

No kidding!!

Oh, to be his massage therapist. ;) That'd be even better than playing with his hair.

I love this epsiode. For an early one there's a fair bit of good old slashy suntext in it.

I think Welsh is hard on Ray becuase he knows that deep down Ray Vecchio is a good cop and this is his chance to orove it. I suspect Welsh already recognises Fraser isa good influence on Ray. He never had any intention if tlaking Ray's sheild away (I think he knows Willie is not entirely truthful when he says Ray told him to go to the station if ever he was in trouble) it was just a way of getting Ray to reach his potential and it works with Fraser's help, Ray manages to solve the case.

I love so many moments between Fraser and Ray iin this form Ray saying you don't want tolive in this neighbourhood to him just handing his wallet over. I mean how many people would do that for a guy they met not long ago. And Fraser's saying Ray was his best friend awwww. Then there's their oiubletalk in the Riv, wonderful.

There's so much in this that makes it one of my favourite early episodes.

Oh, gosh yes!! Does it wind out getting better with these two, because just in this episode and the pilot they've got more slashy subtext than some pairings I read about.

Huh...so you're seeing all the stuff with Welsh really coming down on Ray throughout this episode as a way of pushing him to improve.

That's an interesting thought. I'm not sure I agree with it, though it's possible I will as I see more of him. I think I don't have enough data points yet.

Wonderful stuff, all of it!

This one is definitely a delight!

Hee! OH, honey...

Yeah, it just keeps going and going and going...I can't wait until you see more of it. *is so happy to have a Vecchio slasher*

*is so happy to have a Vecchio slasher*

No promises...

My problem is that Vecchio *leaves* and if I'm invested in their happily ever after that's just going to kill me. (And I won't be able to have an open mind to Kowalski, who really is quite a cool character as well.)

But I can definitely see the subtext like woah!!

Hey hey, it's not only old-schoolers who go F/V. i lean that way in a gen view.

Oh, I'm sorry! I wasn't meaning it that way. I was more thinking in terms of--well the first folks who watched the show saw the show's slashy potential apparently right out of the gate. And it's because of them that the show's still on the map of "slash fandoms". If they hadn't seen the potential it would have gone the way of any of a hundred other shows that ran for a while and disappeared without anyone trying to slash them. Does that make more sense? The fore-mothers *make* the fandom, we keep it alive. ;)

ersonally I'm not so sure he does. He's so damn passionate about trying to help when he's needed. I love him for it. I think Ray does to, he's just had a whole life of 'it never makes any difference' to counter Fraser with. But even in a town like Inuvik, Fraser would have learned from his Grandparents that he couldn't help everyone, I'd wager. I think he'll help when he can, he'll help with a problem's right in front of him. But I don't see him ( ... )

Have you seen One Good Man from season 2? Because my train of thought relates to that and I don't want to spoiler you. :D

Nope, I've seen about eight episodes of Season 1 (including Victoria's Secret) and about five episodes of Season 3 and that's it!

I'm not usually too worried about spoilers, but in this case when I get to the new episodes, I really want them to be new, so thanks for your consideration.

I also think because he's not technically supposed to be involved in most of the cases he takes, he is walking Chicago and seeing it as his duty to help. And when he fails, or comes close too, he seems to take it so personally.

Hmmm...very interesting point. Though a lot of them just seem to fall in his lap, as far as I can tell. But, as I said above, my knowledge is limited.
