Happy very very belated Birthday
mickeymvt!!! I hope it was made of wonder and delight! :o)
lgbtfest has up a
recs post of LGBT related fic and there is some amazing stuff being recced. I spent a good part of yesterday making my way through some of them, so I highly recommend both checking it out and leaving some recs of your own if see that any of your favorites haven't been mentioned.
I would also like to draw your attention to two wonderful bits of art:
bandom fanart by
bl-inks and
this Slings and Arrows vid by
isiscolo. The bandom art is insanely adorable, especially Mikeyway! And Isis's vid is Darren Nichols's fashion sense in a nutshell. I swear that Don McKeller listened to that song while thinking up Darren's costume choices. ♥
And the main reason why I love spring break? I can cook as much as I want, because there are people to eat my leftovers! I indulged myself this afternoon, and my sister and I made the most amazing vegetable lasagna. Also, granola. And since there is not much that I like better than homemade granola, have a recipe!
Easy Granola Recipe
8 cups oats (the recipe claims that quick rise oats don't work, but I've never noticed a difference)
2 cups almonds, coarsely chopped
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup sunflower seeds (I am a fan of the taste of honey-roasted, but anything pre-shelled is your friend!)
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup oil (any kind of oil without a strong taste works fine. I use vegetable oil because it is so cheap, but my mom has used light olive oil and my sister made it with peanut oil once by accident and it all tasted good!)
2 tbsp vanilla
Pre-heat oven to 325. Mix together oats, almonds, coconut and sunflower seeds in a large bowl. Set aside. Stir together honey, brown sugar, oil and vanilla on low heat. When the sugar has melted into the mixture, pour over the oat mixture. Toss together until the oat mixture is evenly covered. Place on some kind of flat surface with a lip (because otherwise it slides off in the oven unless you are REALLY careful, and this makes a mess of the oven!) and cook for 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool and eat!
