archive Ignoring things didn’t make the problem go away.
It had been two weeks already.
Two weeks and the same person kept leaving flowers on his doorstep every day. It was always the same kind too. Yet the one thing that changed that he found weird and confusing was that the number of flowers was dwindling progressively.
Not that he cared, mind you. What kind of guy in his right mind got used to expecting blue spider chrysanthemums on his doorstep every time he came home from work? Surely not him.
He scoffed at the idea.
At first there were 30 of them-yes, he’d counted!
Now two weeks later, only half of that. It was starting to become annoying and a bit creepy.
Granted that was his favorite flower, and his house smelled wonderful, but he didn’t appreciate Yomi and Ruka making fun of him.
Even at work, his good friend, Hitsugi, who was the delivery boy from the bakery, said that someone was trying to woo him.
“What are you talking about, Hitsu-chan?” Sakito asked dubiously.
“Think about it. If someone wanted to get your attention they’d do something like this. It’s clear the person likes you, they know that blue spider chrysanthemums are your favorite.”
“And what about the fact that that less and less are coming every day?” Sakito challenged.
“Maybe it’s a sign. Like a countdown or something. And on the day when there’s only one flower left, the person might show up.”
“That’s so romantic.” A wistful sigh came from his left.
That was Kai. He occupied the desk next to his cubicle and was a true romantic at heart. He believed in love at first sight ever since he met Aoi-a walking sex pheromone that looked like he humped air even though he was actually pretty quiet. He was an enigma and half the office wanted to be in his pants, but fortunately, he only had eyes for Kai.
“You’re still being stalked?” Yomi popped his head up from the other cubicle, surprising them.
“What are you even doing here?” Sakito asked perplexed. He saw more of Yomi, who didn’t even work here, than of Ruka, his boss and Yomi’s boyfriend. How the overly lazy man still had a job was beyond him, but Ruka was in charge and Sakito still had a job so the man must be doing something right.
“Ruka forgot his lunch again.” Yomi said by way of explanation.
“And you forgot to give him a blow job at home so you’re doing it here.” Uruha seemed to pop out of thin air, bumping his hip against Yomi’s own to show that he was joking.
“That is not true!” Yomi denied even though he turned a lovely shade of pink.
Hitsugi’s face turned pink too. The poor kid was only 20 and still a virgin. If it weren’t for the fact that Sakito didn’t like him like that, he;d be all over the sexy redhead. But Sakito’s 24th birthday was coming up in a few weeks and he still hadn’t found love, so the prospect of Hitsugi’s possibilities sent butterflies in his stomach.
“So Sakito, what’s up with the flower guy?” Uruha asked.
“This has nothing to do with Ni-ya. And how the hell do you know about this?” Sakito asked miffed that Uruha, queen of gossip, knew of his personal strife.
“The whole building knows honey.” Uruha said flippantly. When an interested sound escaped him.
“Who’s this Ni-ya guy?”
Sakito didn’t even realize that the name had popped from his mouth. Oh god, what now…
Ok, play it off.
Be cool.
“No one, Ni-ya works at the flower sop.” Sakito said, maybe the info would make Uruha go away.
No such luck. If anything he made it worse.
“What if he’s the one sending you the flowers?”
