Ch.6

The words hadn’t left him in the right way. His mouth spoke before his brain could process it-tell him the whole truth.

“Aki wait!” Hitsugi called out, running down the long corridor to the where Aki was impatiently waiting for the elevators to take him far away.

He got to the elevator before the doors closed, sliding through the small space, leaving no room for Aki to avoid or escape him.

“Aki…”

“It’s ok. I understand. You’re probably dunk anyways, aren’t you?” Aki accused, the feeling of regret giving in to anger, the ugly emotion painting his vision red.

Suddenly, he hated Hitsugi.

“What?! I’m too much of a slut for you to fall in love with? What? You think you can mark me, act like a possessive bastard and then not have any considerations for my feelings?!”

“Huh?” Hitsugi thought. Aki wasn’t making any sense. He probably took to heart what Ni~ya had said. So wait….how long had Aki been overhearing their conversation?!

“If you don’t love me that’s fine. I don’t need you to love me. And for your information I don’t sleep with people you know because I never want to see the way you behaved after what Zannin did. I love you enough to not want you to hate me-”

“Enough!” Hitsugi said, putting an end to Aki’s blabbering. The man wasn’t making any sense.

Surprisingly, Aki stopped talking, enough to let Hitsugi do what he’d wanted to do for ten years.

“I love you.” Hitsugi said.

He stepped forward and took Aki’s face in his hands, closing his lips over shocked open ones. After he got past the initial shock, Aki kissed him back, all thoughts of how his heart was going to explode if it beat any faster gone out the door along with all the doubts and feelings of rejection.

Hitsugi kissed Aki with all the passion of his pent up frustrations and of knowing that ten years had passed. Ten years of being in love with his best friend and unable to do anything. Ten years of watching him bed other people and wishing that it would be him. Ten years of nothing- until now. Aki had never felt this much passion, this much pleasure, from a simple kiss. He kissed Hitsugi with his very being, knowing that Hitsugi loved him as much as he loved him, if not more.

When the need for air threatened to suffocate him, he pulled back, drawing large gulps of air to clear the spots in his vision.

He leaned his forehead against Hitsugi’s, just now noticing that he was pinned against Hitsugi and an elevator wall. A distant ‘ding’ made him blink and a shocked gasp broke the wonderful silence of the tiny metal room. Hitsugi turned giving Aki view of an old lady looking at them, her eyes wide with shock and no one moved. Then the elevator doors closed and started moving, the old lady still on her floor.

Aki and Hitsugi looked at each other again and burst out laughing. There were a lot of things Aki hadn’t noticed until now-like how Hitsugi was plastered to him from hip to shoulder, one of his legs between Aki’s own, how his arms were wrapped around Hitsugi’s neck-when did those get there?-and how his lips still tingled with the fell of Hitsugi’s kisses and the barely there taste of whiskey. He definitely wasn’t drunk.

Untangling their limbs, Hitsugi pulled back and leant against the opposite wall of the elevator just looking at him. After a long silence, Hitsugi finally spoke.

“You have no idea how long I’ve been wanting to do that.” His voice was deep and husky, sending shivers down Aki’s back, making his heart skip a beat.

“How long?” Aki asked, strictly out of curiosity. The fact that he might go mad if he didn’t know had nothing to do with his question.

“Since the day I met you.” Hitsugi confessed.

It took a moment to process before everything clicked in Aki’s mind. The surprise was evident in his face and Hitsugi smiled warmly at him.

“So that’s why you went berserk and almost killed Zannin?!” The question was more of an accusation and the way he said it made Hitsugi sound like a possessive animal.

“Hey, I resent that!”

“You jerk!” Aki yelled, taking a threatening step forward. “So what he said was true? And you waited ten years to tell me?! How much longer were you going to wait? And why the hell did you walk out on Saturday?! Do you know how worried I was? Its like you don’t care about my feelings or how-”

It seemed that kissing was the only way to shut Aki up after he started
ranting.

For a quiet guy, Aki talked too much.
