It's no surprise that housework and I are not on speaking terms. I really, really don't care for it! It's not that I never do it and my house is not a disgusting pig sty, well, not all of the time, anyway...
In any case, L informed me last evening that his sister and mother asked if they could visit on April 1st. L will be in a play/performance of some type that evening and they want to see it. We (L & I) don't discuss things like that much as he tends to be your typical moody actor and the weeks and months leading up to any performance tend to be a bit tense around the house.
Normally, it's not a problem to have visitors. We have three guest rooms, although, one of them is in the garage and no one ever wants to sleep out there. But, it just so happens that, right now, one of the guest rooms in the house is rather a mess. It's been my sewing/craft room, since my daughter moved out on her own in August 2004 (Wow! Can it be that long ago?). In the past several months, we have gotten rid of a bed and moved things around in the guest rooms in the house, resulting in the craft room being without a bed. Since no one ever wants to sleep out in the garage (I would never ask my mil to do it and my sil won't), I decided to move my craft room out there and the bed will come back into the house. That way, even if we have guests, I can get to my yarn and sewing machine, as they will no longer be in a guest room. Very important, you know, when you need a break from "entertaining"! I'd asked H to help me accomplish that move, which she readily agreed to, knowing that she'd be the recipient of any yarn, patterns, books, needles, etc. that I might decide to part with as we were going through my craft things. She was planning on coming down for a weekend at the end of February, so I hadn't kept the room very organized, just dropping things in there, knowing that we would soon be going through it all and moving it anyway. Unfortunately, H didn't come as planned. You see, she got her first after-graduating-college-job the week before she the planned visit and they wanted her to start right away. So, the IKEA shelves and table that I bought to go in my new craft room, along with the light fixtures, etc. are sitting in the den. The soon-to-be former craft room looks like a tornado hit it. I need to get it cleaned out and the bed moved into it today. You see, even though April 1st is 11 days away, I won't be here at all next weekend (can you say
Stickfest i Väst! Yay!) and I don't see it getting done during the week. The last thing I want to do when I get home from work is to work a great deal more, dishes or laundry is fine, but not moving furniture!
So, I woke up early (06:00! Sometimes anticipation is a pain!) and started organizing the piles of craft stuff. When L gets up, we'll have breakfast, then start moving furniture and installing lights, etc. I'm not anticipating that either of us will enjoy the work that is in front of us today, but I think that the result will be wonderful! At least for me...
