What a great couple of weeks, filled to the brim with blog fodder. I have been very negligent in my blogging duties, so I am hereby attempting to cram it all into one MEGA-post.
The weekend of Oct. 5-7 found me in the nation's capitol, Stockholm. Lovely city to visit! I spent the night with my new found friend
Knit Marie. Saturday morning dawned and we made ready for our first ever Yarn Safari. We were trying to hit as many yarn stores in Stockholm as possible on a Saturday. She chronicled the whole adventure on her blog,
here and
here. We managed to hit 6 stores and I managed to spend a decent amount of money. My daughter and her bf joined us on our journey. H even talked me into buying some lovely yarn for a shawl for her, but since I am turning her to the dark side encouraging her to try her hand at knitting, I may just have to give the yarn to her, so that she can knit her own.
Saturday evening I headed into town for a farewell party for a dear friend and fellow expat who was heading back to his beloved homeland of South Africa to try out a year or more of living as an adult in the country where he grew up. Nick has now sadly left Sweden, but, at least we sent him off in style!
Lookie!
Some of the folks got together to sing a South Afrikaans song to Nick, welcoming him home to S.A.
I have no idea what was up with the pink flamingo, but almost everyone got their picture taken with it at some point in the evening.
After the party, I drove my friends JT and DV home to Katrinaholm and spent what was left of the night in their guest room. It was so good to see friends, spend money on yarn and see my baby.
Yesterday, I headed to Oslo to attend a knitting class given by
Amy Singer from Toronto, Canada, author and on-line knitting magazine editor extraordinaire! And a lovely person, as well! The class was fun. I got to meet some wonderful Norwegian ladies, whom I had previously only glimpsed on-line, now and then.
The day started off...
very early! Dawn over my little town.
I arrived in plenty of time and the room started slowing filling up. Here we all are!
Amy showing us one of her tips.
Maud's Garn, the sponsor of the class. Oh, I'll be back here!
Off duty and heading out!
First to the Art Industry Museum to see giant knitted bears and a knitted guillotine (sorry, they wouldn't let us take pictures inside).
Then to a café.
I got to top the evening off by being invited to dinner with the beautiful
kachunknorge and her boys!
Photo Evidence
They are as delightful in person as they seem in their pictures!
Dinner was great! Thanks for everything!
