Well DD went back to school this morning and in spite of the hissing rain went off with a fat grin and a bounce in her step. She cannot wait to see her BFF. ... I just hope her BFF is kind to her today. I could do without the emotional fallout of a rift for another week at least. I am getting used to the fact that DD going back to school leaves me feeling rather flat. Of course last year I was literally flat being too sick to get out of bed to wave her of so that aspect at least has improved (this year I only have a cold, not the flu). It's going to be a big change for her, moving out of the reception classes and into school proper. An hour longer every day for a start, although given that I was in school from 9 until 4 from the age of 5 onward I cannot muster up much sympathy for her having to stay until, ooOO!, 2.30. She will feel the difference though.
For her last day of holidays yesterday, which was also rather wet and drippy, we went to a local pool that has a huge water slide (well huge by our standards). Much fun was had and the high pressure sinus rinse induced by landing in the catch pool at the bottom seemed to help my nose feel less compressed. (Maybe I had better go out in the rain and buy one of those ghastly sinus rinse kits after all :( ) BB of course met yet another thing that he was not allowed to do because he was too small. He is getting old enough to resent that but will have to get used to it for a bit yet poor lamb. He made me tear up the other day by looking me in the eye and saying, with great deliberation 'you my best fend Mama!' Awwww! I will store that up against the next time he throws a heavy object into the middle of the dinner table.
We are going to see the new house today. It is nearly ours but not quite but we want to go in and measure things. Need to do some kitchen planning and the like. DD has not seen inside it yet. I wish she was seeing it in better weather is all. Ah well, one way to test for leaks.
