"What is it that just couldn't wait?" Carter asked, stepping into my office in her dress uniform. I smiled; she looks fantastic in that crisp blue dress.
"Sorry if I alarmed you, Major," I apologized. "I just wanted to see you again and I didn't know any other way you'd reply to a call from the NID."
"What is this about?" I uncovered the plate. "Brownies?" she asked.
"I made them myself."
"Why?"
I shrugged. "I couldn't think of any other way to get you to join me for a snack. Would you like to share a brownie?"
Sam smiled slowly and took a seat.

Sam reluctantly got onto the bar, glaring at the person who'd talked her into this. Slowly, she began to move her hips to the music. The bar patrons applauded, goading her on. Placing her hands on her hips, she decided to go with it. If she was going to make a fool of herself, she might as well do so spectacularly.
The music picked up and she moved with it, bending down and grabbing her date's hand. No protests could stop Sam and soon she was joined on the bar by her dance partner.
They danced. The Sam Carter Boogie had begun.

Back at home, the lights stay off as the radio plays softly. She rests her head on her partner's shoulder, eyes closed, feeling the warmth of another body against hers. The music playing was slow, melodic, it allowed her to keep on dancing without worrying about the steps.
It had been so long since she'd been with someone. She told herself and everyone else it didn't matter. She preferred to be alone. The lie had stopped working years ago.
She took her partner's hand, leading the way to the bedroom.
It was time for a different version of the Sam Carter Boogie.

Sam sighed and reached down, adjusting the tube sock in her jeans. "I look ridiculous."
"It's a dark theater," Janet responded. "No one will be able to see anything but the mustache. The key to a good disguise is subtilty."
Sam sighed. "If you're sure this is the only way you'll neck with me in a theater..."
"It is. Two women would draw too much attention, but a man and a woman is okay. Now, adjust your jeans. Your balls are dropping."

I pulled the sheet from the oven, smiling at the cookies. They came out perfectly. A day at school calmed my nerves and I agree with Mom now. I shouldn't have yelled at her, no matter what I thought.
It doesn't matter now. I'll just give her the cookies as a peace offering when she gets home in a few minutes. Oh! Dad just pulled up. He was supposed to pick her up. I head into the kitchen, going to get the cookies. I hated the idea that my last words to Mom before school had been "I hate you."
