weekend ickiness

This weekend was horrible!!  Okay, not totally horrible, because Kevin came over and I certainly enjoyed my time with him.  He even enjoyed participating in the redial_the_gate  chat and watching a kickass episode of SG-1.  He wasn't that hot though on some of the episodes of season one though!  Anyways, the reason it was horrible is because I came down with a ( Read more... )

Season One has some clunkers. It's only when you're more addicted that you look back and go "aw, newbie team. they're so cute and pettable."

Kevin was fun to hang out with at the redial chat (along with you). Sorry about your cold though.

true... my favorites are usually in seasons 3-5, 7-8... but I'm insistent that he watch them in order at least once... so all the ones he watches out of order he will watch again!! *he promised me!* It was quite interesting listening to him wail and complain and gasp during the episodes, including the redial chat... he's so animated when watching TV, though interestingly enough not during movies in theatres... i'm the loud one there, usually jumping in my seat at any kind of surprise ( ... )

Season One did indeed have some clunkers- including my absolute least favorite of all time, Hathor. But it had some great ones, too. Cold Lazarus, The Nox, Thor's Hammer,The Torment of Tantalus, Bloodlines, Fire and Water, Tinman, There But For The Grace of God...

We just made it through The First Commandment, and Cold Lazarus and the Nox are probably the next time he comes over! We actually skipped through some of the First Commandment he was that annoyed at Hanson but I'm glad we're getting into several good episodes fort he next several rounds...

On the other hand, I just got two new people who want to take the long road down through the 'gate with me (two newlyweds!) Am totally excited as well.

First Commandment is one of the worst episodes. I find Sam letting her gun get taken away to be totally out of character. I would certainly have shot the b*****d, myself. Even if she was convinced that he was mentally ill, the situation called for her to shoot him, no ifs ands or buts. They really hadn't gotten a handle on Sam for the first few episodes. Amanda Tapping had to tell the writers (very nicely, I'm sure) not to worry about writing for a woman, just to write her like all the other characters, and she'd take care of the 'woman' part. I was going to make a comment about mu take on Bloodlines, but it occurs to me that you are seeing the first season for the first time, so we will discuss later. ; )
By the way, there seems to be something funky going on with your site layout. The entries and comments spread out under a transparent sidebar, so it's pretty hard to read and comment. If you are using a browser other than IE, you may not be seeing that...

Kevin is seeing the show for the first time; I've seen all of season one at least twice (probably not much more as I've not revisited it as much as later seasons) I am however still very very new to the Stargate fandom (TV anyways--loved the movie since I was 13) I believe I've only seen bloodlines twice (as I'm looking at the summary). I have not watched any of the special features on the seasons though, so I don't know any of the back stories! Kevin totally wanted Sam and Jack to blow the guy away as soon as they saw him (without us getting to the point where we knew he was crazy--he likes to jump the gun a bit anyways ( ... )
