Egyptian Lover

In addition to BMan, our main vacation destination this year = EGYPT! I'm so excited! This is one we've considered many times, and has always been one of my top picks.

I was inspired by a number of friends who have gone and really enjoyed their trips, including
brandywilliams and
aion131. The way I figure it, the sites are only going to get more touristy and run down over time.  Plus, you just never know what the future holds, so better now than later.

We could do what we've done in the past, and buy a Lonely Planet book and wing it- but most likely we'll go on a tour package instead. Not a bus tour mind you, but a small tour with a local guide. EOL tours was highly recommended to us, and they sound like just the type of fun but not restrictive travel that I enjoy.  It's a trip where all travel and hotel arrangements are made, but you still have a lot of freedom.

They have all types of tours, but the one that is really grabbing my attention is a 10 day tour that includes:
  • Desert Tour to visit Memphis, Sakkara, Giza Pyramids & Sphinx,
  • Nile Cruise boat
  • Felucca including Botanical Gardens & Elephantine Islands
  • High Dam and Philae Temple
  • Kom Ombo city & temple
  • Edfu city & Temple
  • Luxor & Karnak Temples
  • Valley of Kings
  • Valley of Queens
  • Queen Hatshipsut temple, and two Colossi of Memnon
  • Cairo City Tour to explore the Egyptian Museum, Citadel, Old Cairo, old Churches & Bazaar
  • Desert Safari, drive to Baharya oasis
  • Alexander the great temple, Hot springs, Black mountain, Salt lake, Dinosaur area, Sandy hills & British castle for sunset view
  • Bedouin tent for old tradition Bedouin music, overnight in Baharya oasis.
There is so much to see in Egypt that we could never see all of it in the amount of time we have to travel- but this covers a ton of exciting stuff! Cairo! Luxor! Karnak! The Nile! A Desert safari! I'm already setting riding a camel as a top priority...

egypt, travel
