Last night M returned to Seattle, after a 5 day visit. It was really nice to see her and spend time with her. You really get an idea of who she's becoming after being around her that much.
We had a good time, but part of me is glad to have the house back. Even though she's family, I was still in hostess mode. Plus I just didn't get my normal time to myself. It was a good reminder that parenting is a lot of work! Not necessarily hard work, but something that takes time and effort. We were both pretty wiped out by the time she left last night.
We all had a good time at the Winchester Mystery house. That was a good choice for all of us. It was fun an interesting, within all of our preference zones. The house itself is amazing! There was a lot of truly gorgeous decoration and Victorian detail in the house. Plus, of course, all of the funky features like the door to nowhere, and cabinets built to hold .5 worth of goods. The stained glass and the textured wallpaper made from pressed wood were definitely my favorites. The 3 inch riser stairs made for an arthritic lady 4'11" were my least favorite part, by far (even more than the short ceilings, or rather ceilings made for her build, as opposed to my 5'11" frame.) All in all it was a fun day out and about. Photoset linked by clicking the image below:
This week promises a few fun events, like the Mozilla party tonight. Outside of things like pilates, I'm not going to plan on doing much- so I can catch up with house stuff this week.
