On Vox: Kyoto: Golden Pavillion, Ryoanji, & Iwatayama

Today we took the bus out to Kinkakuji- the famous Golden Pavilion. The grounds were beautiful and the pavilion was shiny. We managed to go on the perfect day, as it's the first sunshine we've seen in a while. It's mostly been cloudy and hot, which is fine- but the sun brought out the reflections of the pavilion and the trees in the water, which was gorgeous.

After exploring that area we went to the famous Ryoangi gardens. I loved it! It was so serene, and gorgeous. The more you looked, the more detail you could find in the arrangement and pruning in the plants that live there. The zen rock garden was really cool as well.

Lastly, we made it out to Iwatayama, the MONKEY PARK! It sounds funny to be excited about that after seeing such beauty in building and gardens earlier- but I really really wanted to see them. And I have to say, it was worth the hike up the mountain to visit with the monkeys. We got to feed them by hand, take lots of pictures, and just watch them be. Needless to say, there were baby monkeys that were super super cute:
