I don't know why, but I've had writer's block when it comes to making posts this week. At the beginning of the week I was really busy with work, but after that I just couldn't start.
Last weekend was really fun! Highlights included going to the opening night of the ballet with my mom. It was a performance of
Don Quixote and it was amazing! By far the music and dance was my favorite of the season. The ballerinas get all of the attention, but in SF the men are just incredible.
Seriously, they are so incredibly athletic and graceful they do absolutely incredible things with their bodies. I've never seen anyone leap so high and make it look so graceful and easy (ha!). I've really enjoyed going to the ballet this year. I really love the dancing, as well as the music. The orchestra is really amazing. Plus it has proved to be a really nice mother/daughter activity.
Sunday was a huge family birthday dinner. There were six of us with birthdays at the end of April and early May! We had 17 people plus a nice dinner and cake, thanks to my mom who organized the whole thing. I actually really enjoyed doing it, and it was nicer to have it be six of us instead of just having it be me.
This weekend I want to be really mellow although I have some ideas for my actual birthday. I'll be turning 36, yo! As tradition dictates, I will avoid all Mexican eateries as having your birthday on Cinco de Mayo= craziness! Actually, what I really want is to go have brunch at
the Cliffhouse and then take a walk on Ocean Beach. If we're feeling really exciting, maybe we'll go visit the buffalo in Golden Gate park! That's all I want, in addition to enjoying the sunshine.
Al made me open my presents last weekend. I got some lovely tea and a new tea cup, in addition to some books. He gave me a bible! It was funny, and yet weird. I've been telling him I planned to read it, as I never have. Now I have my own copy! Well, in truth I have an old leather bible that belonged to my grandmother, but it's so well loved that it's totally falling apart and I've always been afraid to ruin it. So now I'll actually have to start reading it- which should prove to be interesting.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
