I am sitting in my kitchen, working on my laptop. Al is out with M, who is visiting us all week. I'm wrapping up emails and not doing anything hard!

I just feel so incredibly lucky right now. I have a good job, and a warm safe house. I have friends and family that I love dearly.  I have a passion that will become my career sooner rather than later. ( Read more... )

I haven't had much to say lately- or I think of things and never get to writing them down. I've been holding down the fort while Al is in Vegas this week. The house feels really different there with just me and the pets, and it always takes some getting used to.

Sunday I went out to the cemetery with my family for the matzevah (unveiling of the tombstone). This was for my cousin Rachel, who died from breast cancer last year.

We gathered on a bright hillside, in a gorgeous cemetery surrounded by tall Eucalyptus trees and a view of the bay. Most people got there a good half hour late, unlike my parents who ( Read more... )

This weekend I'm going to celebrate the birthdays of two of my favorite people: Al and my mom. We are going to gather with my parents, brother and SIL at Greens restaurant in Fort Mason.

A while back my mom pulled me aside to ask me something. She asked if Al & I would be willing to visit the SF zen center retreat property called Green Gulch. I said 'Sure!'

We'd talked about visiting there before, and just hadn't made it out. Evidently my mom has wanted to go for years and couldn't find anyone to go with, so she was quite happy.

Mother's day was fully celebrated yesterday. I got up early and picked a bouquet of roses from our yard. I was happy to get a nice selection of white, yellow, peach and pink roses- they looked really nice together. I wrote out my card expressing my sincere appreciation of my Mom. The weekend before last I went to the latest SF ballet, entitled 'New Works'. It was a collection of world premiere pieces. I went with my mom and one of my aunts.

It was fascinating to see so many new moves, and new music. I liked it a lot better on the whole then some of the newer pieces I've seen by them. The previous ones featured minimalist ( Read more... )
