Today was interesting, I guess, though ultimately a bit angsty. The morning was fairly cruisy, before Hannah rang to confirm I'd be at the callback this evening. Let me tell you, once I'd checked when the last quick bus to Indro was, I had to scramble to get ready. I took the opportunity to return some library books (mum's were overdue), and pick up a snack and a water bottle from Woolies; and a Red Bull to keep me going. Good plan in theory, although I feel a bit greasy on the inside and sweaty on the outside; why won't it rain already. lol. *sighs*
Ultimately, I got to !Metro Arts earlier than anticipated, albeit with a short detour to the underground bus terminal, which seems to only be active for inbound travel (either that or I caught an xpress version of the bus I was supposed to). I ended up chatting with Ruby who was also auditioning, and Gavin and Tamara. It seems Jo and everyone as kind of assumed that I'm helping out with publicity for Metamorphoses, though--perhaps I shouldn't have spent that time this morning tweaking a media release. I wonder what will happen to my involvement in this project if it turns out I don't pass the audition and become a QSE apprentice...? :-S
Anyhow--the audition went well, or at least 98% of it did. I surprised myself and did two improv scenes fairly well (or so I think), I the warm-up Linklater exercises were familiar to me now, my "cold-read" of a scene The Taming of the Shrew with a gal called Liz was fairly well-received by the core ensemble, who were frantically jotting down notes about everyone. And I wasn't distracted by them either, which was good. lol. But the freaking last minute of the 5-hour-long evening was where I stuffed up bigtime. We each had to try to recite one of our monologues as if various parts of our bodies were speaking (e.g. bones, organs, muscles, nerve endings), and it seems 2 days was enough for me to get distracted and forget my lines. *sighs* :-( Ultimately, it seems QSE is only looking to take on one new guy, core or apprentice, so I'm kind of concerned. Granted, only 4 guys made it to the callback stage, but still, I'm completely angsty at myself right now, you have no idea how much. :-/
Meanwhile, I am in desperate need of a shower, and maybe some ice-cream (if we have any)...
