Pain, tragedy...loss and grief. Usagi was no stranger to these things. She had to face them back in her world. Watch her senshi get hurt over and over again to protect her. One of them would get kidnapped....brainwashed....but in the end she was able to bring them back to her side. But of course, there was a price to be paid be it in tears, in pain or the sacrifice a life. The blonde shook her head to push back those memories. She wanted to try again to convince Yuugi that it wasn't his fault, but that wouldn't get that anywhere for the night.

So here she was at his door with her LP in her hand and her locket inside her jacket. She softly knocked twice on he door. She would heal Yuugi's wounds tonight and help him sleep peacefully. Considering what he went through, what she had to go through before, it was the least she could do. If I can trust Atem...I can trust him... The thought went through her mind as she waited for her friend to open the door ( ... )

Yuugi jumped when the LP in his hand dinged, and he closed his eyes in relief at seeing that Usagi was outside. He exited his room, picking his way carefully through the living room and kitchen, before opening the door to the girl. He couldn't help himself; he nearly flung himself at the girl, wrapping his right arm as tightly around her as he could in a desperate hug.

"Come in," he said, backing off and into the living room. He was suddenly very grateful that people hadn't let him be alone when he wanted to be. He never would have learned that Atem would be returning (or hopefully so, anyway); that didn't lessen the level of horror and self-loathing he still felt, but it made things a little better nonetheless ( ... )

Usagi continued to wait outside that is until she saw the door open and had something flung at her. For a moment she was surprised but soon calmed down knowing who was holding onto her. The blonde returned the hug, making it a little tight before Yuugi pulled away. She offered him a soft smile as she nodded her head and walked with him into his apartment.

"You don't owe me anything, Yuugi-kun. I know you would do the same for me," she whispered, staying close to the young boy as they went through his apartment back to his room. When they finally entered his room she didn't comment on the state of it, merely closed the door and hugged the boy. Losing someone you loved, even if it was for a day, was still painful.

"I would try my very hardest," Yuugi promised as he returned the second hug, looking up at Usagi and allowing her a small smile. "I wouldn't want to see you in pain."

He meant every syllable.

He grimaced at the state of his room, instantly giving the girl an apologetic look. "I'm-- I'm sorry for the-- mess..." he mumbled, a dull flush spreading over his cheeks. "I haven't had a chance to clean up yet... I will soon, though, but after I get this--" He raised his left arm, the sleeve of his now-torn shirt still stuck to it. "off and cleaned." He scratched the back of his head. "I was hoping that if the fabric's wet when I take it off it'll leave as few threads in my skin as possible."

Usagi watched Yuugi as he gathered the bed sheets. He was a little trooper, trying to carry on. Concern began to grow as the sheets fell to the floor and he went to the window. He's pushing himself.. The thought went through her mind as she watched him collect himself.

"Yes, I'm sure. I had something before, earlier," she told him, moving from her spot to try and take the sheets from him. If he wanted them clean that was fine, but she would do it. He had been through a lot that night, the last thing he should have to worry about was clean sheets.

"I'll wash these for you, since the stores are closed at the moment." she told him, a small smile on her face as the tiredness began to fade away.

"I would offer mine, but I doubt you like pink," she teased, trying to lighten the mood.

Yuugi considered arguing back again, but sensing that he was defeated he let the sheets slip from his grasp. Instead he gripped Usagi's forearm and smiled warmly. "Thank you," he whispered yet again, but he felt as though he couldn't say it enough. She'd been kinder than he deserved.

Yuugi opened to door to his room and turned back, his lips twitching as he looked over his shoulder at the blonde. At her mention of pink sheets, he thought only of his soul room, littered with children's toys. Yuugi gave a small chuckle. "If they do their job, Usagi-chan, that's all that matters!" he said. "But don't worry about it."

Besides, he was going to stay with Lelouch beginning tomorrow, anyway; there would be no point in making Usagi go out of her way to get sheets when he would only use them for a night or so.

Victory! Usagi had managed to convince Yuugi to give up his job of washing his sheets to her! Hearing his thanks again she shook her head, smiling back at him. "No problem," she whispered back. She began to look for the washing machine only to see the boy look over his shoulder at her.

"I suppose...but a lot of guys don't really want to sleep on something girly," she replied looking around for the machine. Once she found it she dumped the sheets in there, poured in some detergent and set the setting. The machine turned on and with that she went back over to Yuugi.

"Your sheets are in wash and soon enough they'll be in the dryer. Are you gonna stay up till they're done?"

Yuugi had dropped onto the living room couch just outside his room, his head in his hands. The heels of his palms pressed into his eyes until he saw starbursts behind his eyelids; it was much better than anything else running through his mind.

"I'm not most guys," Yuugi said, his voice dry. "Jounouchi-kun always said I needed to be more manly. Good thing he never saw my soul room..."

Gods, he missed Jounouchi.

He shook his head and lifted it from his hands, blinking at Usagi. "Maybe," he admitted, "if I can't sleep. I tried napping earlier because I thought the blankness of sleep would help, but... that didn't work out." He'd relived the scene again and woken up screaming into his pillow. "I could always sleep out here with a blanket, but I don't want to inconvenience Daisuke-kun..."
