Suzaku made his way to the Book Bin after he had gone back to the apartment to change. He hadn't gone to slay monsters in the last week or so due to the disappearances and so after everyone returned, he had decided to spend a few hours slaying some monsters in the forest to make up for lost time. Showing up at the Book Bin with dirty torn clothes wouldn't have ended well ( ... )

It was about damn time, but Szayel showed none of his impatience on his face. He managed a brief smile... and in doing so, gently started to ease his reiatsu back to normal, making himself a beacon for any shinigami in the area.

It was time for the performance to begin once again.

"Thank you for coming," he replied graciously, before his eyes flicked over to the new stranger. "...though it would have been wise to inform me you were bringing a guest."

Oh well, the more casualties, the merrier.

"Of course. It's good to see what you've been up to from time to time," Suzaku said and then turned to Lelouch when he felt the light touch on his back. He gave a small smile and then stepped aside a little.

"Szayel, this is my friend Lelouch Lamperouge. He is from my world and we've known each other for a long time. Lelouch, this is Szyael Aporro Granz. He is the guest that I have had over while he was searching for a place to stay."

Ichigo had been taking care of Rukia when he'd sensed it.

The reiatsu. The unmistakable dark reiatsu that came from only the worst of his enemies. An Espada. Ichigo wasn't as alarmed as he could should have been, he could sense that this was no Grimmjow--or even worse, Ulquiorra ( ... )

Szayel felt the fluctuating reiatsu before he saw him of course; he sensed him using his Bankai, sensed him following his own spiritual pressure into the city, but he did nothing, knowing full well who was coming, and it excited him to no end.

Kurosaki Ichigo.

"Yes, indeed," he began, continuing the conversation as if nothing had happened at all. He reached out, tapping one of the books before him. "Thanks to a young gentleman familiar with the situation, I learned that those that had disappeared had 'lost their hearts' thanks to individuals known as Heartless. There's quite a bit of data here on the subject, though in essence, they are creatures that steal the hearts of others. What's disturbing is that no such creatures have been reported on this island, which mea--"

He had entered the store while he was speaking, but Szayel made no move to do anything until Kurosaki interrupted him. Perfect; the obnoxious little orange berry was walking right into his carefully placed web ( ... )

Suzaku's attention snapped to the doorway when he heard it bang open and saw a boy with bright orange hair walk in. He turned around fully as two things hit him at once.

The boy was yelling as if something was dangerous and then Szayel's single word caused him to freeze.

Shinigami. Was this Szayel's enemy? Suzaku had seen the boy a few times - as both his hair and his temperment were not easy to forget - but he hadn't imagined that he was anything like a god of death. He immediately stepped forward and stood sideways, putting up both his hands as if to hold the two forces back. He might not have trusted Szayel to the fullest extent but it did not mean he would automatically side with the opposite side either. He did, however, need the two to start trusting each other. The last thing they wanted here was a fight when things could have been resolved without weapons.

"Lower your weapons. There's no need to fight here. We can settle this calmly," he said firmly.

"He's an Espada, he's one of the guys the Island has been warned about! I can't...it's took long to explain now, but there is no way in HELL he's got good intentions! Just trust me on this, alright?!" Ichigo exclaimed, narrowing those dark eyes at Szayel. There was a long pause as Ichigo considered Suzaku and Lelouch's words before he spoke again ( ... )

Szayel made no move to join him, pressing two fingers to the bridge of his glasses instead, one hand still resting on his zanpakutō. Not that he did not doubt the range of his equipment, but he was not leaving this spot, not without Kurosaki attacking him in front of the two boys. An outright attack, provoked by the truth? Oh that would be delicious.

"I don't have good intentions?" he responded, his voice low and emotional. "What of you, shinigami? How 'good' were your intentions when you invaded Las Noches? How 'good' were your intentions when you killed the others in the name of a woman that joined us willingly?!"

That struck a nerve. Ichigo stopped in his tracks and he turned to shoot a glare at Szayel. The rage was boiling deep in his stomach, and before he knew it he was moving.

The orange haired teen disappeared only to reappear right in front of the Espada, his sword coming down from an overhead slash. Ichigo knew it would be blocked, underestimating Szayel's abilities would have been a bad idea all around.

"Inoue only went with to try to SAVE OUR WORLD!! Don't you DARE try to make me out to be the bad guy when your boss is tryin' t' destroy EVERYTHING!!!" Ichigo shouted during the swing of Zangetsu, and the blazing look in his eyes said that there definitely was no way of a truce now. Not that Szayel had wanted that in the first place.

Szayel had been fully prepared to make a show of struggling to block Kurosaki's attack, his blade coming up a little too late, his movements a little too slow. The good news was that he succeeded... the bad news was he wasn't really acting. He knew Kurosaki had monstrous power from his observations, but he did not know it was this much. Had the boy grown so much in such a short amount of time?

"Gh... you... you know nothing!" he snapped, struggling to push Kurosaki off.

There was no time to sort anything out. Who was wrong, who was right. It could not be decided at the moment when Ichigo went berzerk.

And then vanished.

Suzaku's eyes widened as he saw Ichigo suddenly reappear and started swinging his sword downward at Szayel who did not even have his weapon drawn. Just how was that even a fair fight?! He took action as he saw Szayel barely able to block the swing and then struggle against Ichigo's obviously more powerful attack.

Without a second thought, Suzaku dove at Szayel and pushed him out of the way of the sword's path while kicking Ichigo back. Since he was in immediate mortal danger while doing so, his "live" geass activated, forcing him to act superhumanly fast. The sword barely missed Suzaku himself, ripping through a good length of his coat.

"Stop this!"

Ichigo barely even heard Suzaku, but when he shoved Szayel out of the way of his sword, brown eyes widened. The relief written on his face was great when he watched the brunette's speed increase and the sword just tear into Suzaku's jacket.

With knowing that Suzaku was okay, Ichigo's mind went right back to the business at hand. He flicked his gaze sideways to Lelouch before quickly snapping it back to Szayel.

"Tch, ya want me to take this outside?! Fine!"

With that, Ichigo was clearing the distance between him and Szayel, shoving Suzaku out of his way to get there. He was pissed and at this point he didn't give a crap about whether or not he looked bad.

It happened in a flash, and Ichigo had Szayel lifted in the air by a hand wound tightly in the front of his jacket. He then drew back and threw the Espada as hard as he could, sending him flying through the store window. The orange haired teen was right on his tail after that, sword up and ready to meet with the pink haired Espada's, or so he expected.
