Saw both this weekend.

Skyfall would stand by itself if removed from the entire James Bond universe.  It’s that good a story.  It’s that good a film.

I received my copy a few days ago - my autographed copy (he added in sublime possessive glee) - and just finished reading it.

The fact that it’s an excellent story is, of course, moot.  It is, after all, Lois McMaster Bujold, so the story is excellent.

One:  Unbelievably, the movie actually lived up to it’s hype … and perhaps even surpassed it.  The greatest scenes will be talked about and used as memes and none of them, not a single one, appears in any preview.

Two:  I do believe that Joss is now a minor deity among storytellers.

The five victims in the movie were all college kids.  A blond party girl, a blonde jock, a doper, a brunette academic girl, and a really loyal nice guy.

If you happen to like horror movies that involve cannibalistic rednecks, zombies, alien monsters, deadites, demons, ghosts, or anything with a central indestructible bad guy who dresses odd and carries an axe, chainsaw, or anything of that ilk … well, you just might love this movie.

Dian and I saw the latest Mission: Impossible movie this afternoon.
