That's a fascinating theory!! :O And it makes so much sense!! *________* Now that you mention it, I too wouldn't be surprised if at some point we find Aidou-dono is currently in hiding/helping with Kaname's plan from some secret location. :O It would make so much sense with everything else

It's an interesting idea, but the whole conversation between Aido-dono and Kaname being fake? I don't know... Aido wasn't there when it started, so it looked sincere to me, there was no need for them to say such things if it were fake.
That said, I have absolutely no idea why he'd need to die. Turning Aido against Kaname sounds strange as a reason. Aido isn't a big deal, after all, what was so important about that.
I don't think the conversation itself was fake. ^^/ I think that it could be that during the conversation, Kaname would have explained his plan, and explained the idea of them doing an illusion (presuming that he knew the others were about to arrive, which he definitely would have known if he had bats watching either the area or them. It seems a pureblood thing, to watch what's going on using those things, like how Sara is always doing. And Kaname had used his bat/wolf thing to watch and make sure Yuuki was safe in past times, so it's quite possible he had bats outside and would know when they were coming in

So basically Kaname wanted to frame himself for murder... Why? Nobody can follow him if he's hiding, even if they want to :) And even if they could follow and became persistent helpers, why would that be bad for them? Oh I really want the manga to come weekly now, not monthly.
That said, now remembering how Aido-dono protested and Kaname said that they're all fools for worshipping purebloods, it does seem like he was explaining him the plan to kill all purebloods at those moments.
On another hand, I remember that in some scene prior to that Aido-dono wondered out loud if Yuuki would be able to stop Kaname and then refused to elaborate. As if he already knew about it back then. So maybe he did and simply protested once more prior to his death scene, because he didn't totally like it.
Kaname framing himself for murder . Why not ? Afterall , he said he was the one who killed Ouri to Cross . A thing we know Sara was the culprit . He is trying to make himself the scapegoat of all wrong things done by Vampires .
If the illusion theory is correct . The only part concerning the illusion was the actual scene of Kaname killing Aido - dono . The rest was real . Kaname only got a few minutes to explain to Aido - dono his idea of creating a fake execution .
About Aido - dono . I'm sure he did knew about the true plan of Kaname . Also he had to know both Hanabusa and Yuuki will oppose to Kaname and try to stop him if they had the opportunity . Of course he had to know Hanabusa would have no chance to survive if he tried to confront Kaname in a real fight . But Yuuki has a real chance for stopping Kaname .
Yeah, I agree. ^^/ (And I ended up mentioning Ouri too, we were thinking the same thing about the same time, it seems. XD Though I hadn't seen you had already commented first, I hadn't refreshed the page yet. ^^)
He has already framed himself for murder before by officially taking the blame for Ouri's death even though we know it was Sara who killed Ouri. ^^/ (And claiming he killed Ouri would also frame him for the biting & resulting death of the hunter who was caught in that mess too, so it's likely to get the HA on his case also

I totally agree with all you said, and was so enjoying your analysis, until you pointed out Yuuki was the King. GREAT conclusion! It's so right, she's the main character, the most important piece who is weaker and requires protection.
And Kaname is the Queen. Exactly, I understand what you mean. But well, I like how this sentence sounds!
"Kaname is the Queen" "Kaname is the Queen" *repeats it over and over* Yes, sounds very well!
