Flew the coop
I'm having a hard time finding time to update my LJ lately! Things have been so hectic between work and moving and getting settled in the new place. After more stress and drama than I thought possible, we now have a couch and an armchair. We still need a table, but now at least we have something to sit on, which 500% increases our ability to relax when at home. I'm sitting on the couch right now, in fact! ;) I haven't had a proper couch for over four years, so this is a big deal. And it almost didn't happen -- we spent over an hour trying to get the couch through the front door. I'll spare the details and just summarize it as a horrid experience that very nearly resulted in us abandoning the couch on the street. I'm so utterly motivated to not move again for as long as we can manage.
I do love the neighborhood, though. I'll post pics soon. We also finally got the cooking supplies that my boyfriend's mom shipped out (his old stuff, which was being stored in their garage) and I cooked some enchiladas on Monday and then my cousin -- who now only lives a few blocks away -- came over to partake. I love that I can do stuff like this now -- cook, have people over, visit with them... Once we get a table we can really have people over. Another thing I haven't been able to do for at least four years. I'm starting to feel like a grown up! ;)
Woo hoo -- Office and SNL special tonight! I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately -- but hopefully now that I'm a little more settled here I'll have more time.
