It's hard to believe the "Heroes" finale is tonight. It's like I can literally feel the tension in the air right now. I'm kind of terrified too, because I just know something's going to happen that I'm really not going to like, and that makes me nervous. Tonight's going to be intense, I'm telling you.
So today the trademark killer winds of St. Mary's finally kicked in, which was glorious because I'd been missing them with all the unseasonably warm weather. After a week at most I'll start to get tired of them, but today they were great. Unfortunately, the severity of the wind knocked the power out across most of the campus around 12:30 this afternoon and stayed out for about two hours.
After awhile it suddenly occurred to me that I should probably be worried about the stuff I had sitting in the (now-dormant) fridge. Normally we don't have much in there that won't be fine if it sits out for a while, but we went on a little shopping trip over the weekend, and now there was an Amy's frozen dinner, multiple refrigerated packs of cookie dough for the Cookies and Carols event on Wednesday, and a half-gallon of milk (which I was particularly concerned about). I puzzled over the solution to this for a second, and then I remembered the time a few years ago that we had a 3-day power outage and my parents took all the food in the fridge and put it out on the deck so it would stay cold. Of course, they had the advantage then, because there was a foot of snow outside at the time, so it was sure to stay cold. But I figured, temperatures are low enough out there, and it's my best bet at this point. So I bagged up all the food and stuck it outside under the 2nd-floor balcony in the back, hoping for the best.
I don't know how well I did. I haven't checked the milk since I put it back in the now-working fridge at 3:15, and I won't know about the cookies and the frozen dinner until I try to make them. But everything looked/smelled all right earlier today, so hopefully that was the right choice. That was my big adventure today.
God, I'm busy. Barely a spare moment the next few days. And so much studying too! :(
