Ugh.

So I'm definitely sick. I've mentioned a couple times that after dance show, I picked up one of the colds that was floating around the entirety of dance club, and I've been coughing and sneezing like nobody's business ever since. It's inconvenient, sure, but it hasn't been that much of a problem. Particularly since, while my throat would always be dry and scratchy when I woke up, I never had such serious symptoms that they got in the way of my actual sleep.

Well, um, that's no longer true. Yesterday I thought, "I really want to get this cold on its way out." So I started being good and doing what actually needs to be done to get better from a cold- I drank orange juice with my breakfast, took my vitamins, washed my hands at all the appropriate times, and went to bed at 1:00 a.m. (I don't have class till 2 p.m. on Tuesdays) with the full intention of getting plenty of sleep.

Ha.

I had a hard time getting to sleep, and woke up again at about 3:15 a.m. (I think that was the first time) with a coughing fit so violent and persistent that I could not stop. It would not let me go back to sleep. Water did not help. After about fifteen minutes of progressively worsening coughs, I became worried that my hacking up a lung would wake up Florence, so at 3:30 I got a cough drop and my water bottle and went downstairs to the common room (probably the area of QA most removed from the dorm rooms, so no one would be bothered by my coughing) to recover and get myself under control. I returned to the room 20 minutes later and went back to bed, literally praying that things would be calm long enough for me to get a good night's rest.

There was no more coughing of that magnitude that night, but it was severe enough for me to wake up twice more and have to drink a lot of water and hope it went away. Needless to say I did not feel very rested when I got up this morning. It's been all right today, but I had another really bad coughing fit about forty minutes ago and couldn't stop. It's so frustrating. And I absolutely hate being sick (being injured I can deal with; sickness, not so much).

I'm really hoping it doesn't interfere with my sleeping tonight. I can't just sleep as late as I want (have to be up for my 10:40 class) and I need to catch up on the sleep I didn't get last night. Ugh.

Well, off to dinner I guess.
