As some of you might remember from me talking about it, last year STARS brought a female folk duo called Nervous But Excited down to campus for a concert. This was organized very spur-of-the-moment (the person who recommended it only told us two weeks in advance), I- the newbie exec board member at the time- was put in charge of organizing it, and on top of it all, I couldn't attend because of mandatory 8-till-midnight dance rehearsals for dance club tech week. It was right in the middle of a ridiculously busy and stressful month, and while I was glad it managed to come through, it was not the happiest of experiences. Especially since I didn't get to experience the payoff of seeing the concert itself.

This year, we decided to bring them back, and it was a completely opposite version of last year's experience. We discussed it from the beginning of the semester, so there was plenty of time to plan. I got the paperwork in earlier and was much more experienced with the arts of filling out forms and planning ahead. And most importantly, I got to attend.

I loved it. Folk is more and more becoming a favorite music genre of mine, and the sense of humor that Kate and Sarah (the band members) had was so awesome. They played a lot of great songs- including my favorite, "Slow and Steady". Not a whole lot of people came, but there were a good number, and several even stayed to help clean up. All in all, I really felt that it was a successful club event. And that was really gratifying.

I wanted to buy a CD of theirs, but I quickly realized that I did not have enough money to do so. I am running out of money quite fast these days, and I need to set $27 aside for my flu shot on Wednesday and an extra $20 or so for the Hinduism field trip on Saturday- $5 for the recommended temple donation and $10-15 for the meal. And my parents won't be here for another two weeks (they're coming down for the dance show), so I need to have enough to get by until then. I'm going to check and see if they sell their CDs online, because if they do I'll ask my parents to get it for me for Christmas. If not, I'll just borrow Gina's CDs and put the tracks on my computer. :)

So yeah. I'm happy tonight. :) The only downside of the concert timing-wise was that I had to miss "Heroes" to attend, and I had a meeting with my scene partner and acting professor beforehand and couldn't come back to tape it. So I'm going to watch it online later in the week- don't tell me any spoilers before then! You'll just have to wait a few more days for the weekly review that I know you all anticipate. ;)
