In the Fantasy Baseball draft the weekend before last, I took Toronto starting pitcher R.A. Dickey with my fifth pick. I'd had Dickey on my team last year, picking him up as a free agent mostly because of the novelty that he was a knuckleballer. As I was mounting the shelf brackets in our laundry room the other day, I had the laptop perched on top of the washer that I had pushed out of the way, so that I could watch Bull Durham while I worked. So I went and ordered a new, fitted, size 7 3/4 Lowell Spinners ball cap. I like it a lot. It actually fits my head. Turns out, I have a pretty big head. Props to brother pkhentz for inspiring me with his fitted Cardinals cap. I think the Spinners cap works for me. I like a ball cap, and I like a team insignia. The Astros lost ... their reliever, Micelli, blew a one-run in the eighth by giving up two solo shots to right field. It was close, though, and the home team gave Dodger reliever Eric Gagne a run for it, hitting a few hard shots, but both wound up on Dodger gloves. Oh well. Minute Maid Park is a nice one.
