Trailerific

Here's a vid I made for melyanna's birthday. It's a trailer for one of my all-time favorite fanfics, The Crossroads of Eshu, which tells the story of Sam getting sucked into an Alternate Reality after a lab experiment goes differently than expected. (For the record, this fanfic was written some years before the recent SG-1 episode "The Road Not Taken").

Daniel is ascended, Jonas is still around, Sarah Gardner is long since de-goa'ulded and working for the SGC, as are Elizabeth Weir and John Sheppard (er, working for the SGC, that is. Neither of them have yet needed to be de-goa'ulded, to my knowledge). Atlantis has never been discovered, and Jack O'Neill is retired and recently widowed. I won't say any more, except that in reading this story, you get to witness the steady transfer of Mely's OTP love from Jack/Sam to Shep/Weir, which was going on simultaneously as this story was being written. It's always amused me. ;-)

Anywho, here is the link:

Vid: The Crossroads of Eshu Trailer
Edit: Sache8
Music: "A Kaleidescope of Mathematics" by James Horner. From the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack A Beautiful Mind.
Spoilers: Um... clips from all over the place, both SG-1 and Atlantis episodes.
Disclaimer: It's not thievery, it's homage.

This vid was a blast to make. The challenge was multi-fold. How do you sell the premise of the story to someone who's never read it? And how do you make it recognizable as that story to someone who has? I had quite a bit of fun "creating" several scenes through editing manipulation that never come remotely close to taking place in canon, my very favorite being a scene between Jack O'Neill and John Sheppard in the SGC elevator, which is one of the most poignant character moments in the story.

Anyway... I'm off to the movies. Hope everyone enjoys! And if you enjoy... read the fic! :-)

(And Happy Birthday, Mely!)
