On sidekicks. And shopping.

Look who I found!!

Shoulder view. Doesn't he look smug up there?

With apologies to Pascal, for the indignity, this is how he's going to stay in place all day. I affixed one half of a snap to his underside...

...and the other half on the shoulder of the costume.

Full view. He's pretty much to scale too!!

I got the pattern for the cutout here at Disney's website and today when I was out I got some green cardstock. The rest is pretty self-explanatory. One slight issue is that I'll have to probably carry it on the plane, because there's really no way to pack him without smushing him.

Speaking of shopping... whew! I had a long day of it today. I got a frying pan (a nice one! Wide, cheap, and most importantly, LIGHT!) I got the cardstock for Pascal. I got two varieties of sponge rollers, one of which I'm experimenting with even as we speak. It's supposed to make loose, wavey curls, and I'd like to wear my hair that way with my Inara costume if I can.

I stocked up on some other basic hair supplies and sunscreen, mostly all the supplies I've been figuring out all week. The only thing I didn't have after a surprisingly quick run was a plain white button-up collar shirt with short sleeves for my Nerd Herd costume.

Easy, right?

HAH!!!

You have no idea how hard it is to find one when you need to! First off, most white collar shirts out there have long or 3/4 sleeves, and while that's moderately acceptable, it's just not quite the same. I went to about six different places looking for something acceptable. I almost had one in Kohl's. It was adorable, and brilliant, crispy white, but they didn't have any more in my size.

Finally, I found one in Target with an unecessary ruffle that looks too busy with the tie, so I'll be removing it with my seam ripper. Which is slightly annoying, since the ruffle was probably part of the price.

The shirt is very flattering, however, and makes me look once more like an adorable and very professional Nerd Herder indeed. And you can be sure that throughout the course of the upcoming year whenever I happen upon an acceptable Nerd Herder collar shirt in the ordinary course of my shopping life, I will be buying two. I think part of the problem is also that the stores are rolling out their fall lines, which is sweaters and long sleeves.

(Why don't I have my Nerd Herd shirt from last year, you may ask? Well, because white shirts do not say beautiful crispy white for long, and I actually have use for them in my real life job, so I probably wore it out five months ago. I'm honestly not quite sure).

In other news, the house, most specifically my bedroom, is a mess. I'm going to go clean that up and then try to sleep with a head full of sponge rollers for the first time in probably over a decade.
