Why is it that on vacation I don't mind doing household chores like laundry but on my weekends I find them, well, chores. I did both a clothes wash and a dish wash this weekend and hated both. It's not like I do any of the work! But for a change, the laundry is folded and put away. I spent about 30 minutes working on my desk. You'd never know it. ( Read more... )

The only thing I really wanted to do on this vacation was to return to Wakodahatchie, a wetlands preserve that my parents took me to last year. Thanksgiving was a low key event this year. I spent it in the company of good friends. The food was great and there wasn't so much that we felt ill. Turkey and salad and roasted squash with shallots, onion poppyseed breadsticks, cranberry sauce with walnuts and pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. Oh, and a nifty vanilla latte while watching Sentinel. Did a little more reading. I even finished a grown-up book. Book #106, Bell, Cook, and Candle by Joanne Pence. This is an Angie Amalfi mystery and has a cooking bent. I enjoyed it - are vampires really everywhere? This is a 2002 book and it talks about vampires. Anyway, I think I would have enjoyed the book more if I had read the earlier books. I've finally joined the herd and read Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code, Book #30. I wanted to read it before the movie. It wasn't bad but I certainly don't see where it deserved bestseller status for months, if not longer. If you want a good thriller, read Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Identity of The Icarus Agenda.
