That when glass heats up, it explodes?
That the glass shards look like slivers of ice?
That glass flies pretty far?
(I had a piece in my sink. It flew past me from the stovetop to the bottom of the sink.)
That in spite of the total (dangerous) mess, I didn't get hurt while cleaning up.
So I'm down my 8x8 glass pan due to my own stupidity - I turned on the wrong burner and didn't notice until it was too late. As I was moving the pan to a cooler spot, my little glass pan let itself go. Shards went everywhere - floor, under the burners, under the toaster oven, in the pan of spinach I was trying to cook, into the butter I was melting (I found out later). After a few deep breaths and choice curse words, clean up began and I was able to finish cooking the spanakopita and apple pudding. Both came out phenomenally better than I had hoped even with less spinach, the wrong Greek cheese, and too much butter in the glaze.
