Craig Ferguson and The Boston Marathon Attack

Apr 17, 2013 19:16

So...I stole this from killerweasel. I was just able to watch it today. We've all be inundated with this horrific act of terror. I cried silently as I watched it unfold. I don't get it. I can't get it. As a woman who spends her work hours helping to save people, I just can't wrap my head around anyone who would do this to random folks. Craig says it beautifully when he says this isn't a soldier. It's a terrorist. I was trying to articulate that today before I saw this. No one likes war, but you can understand why a one soldier kills another. It is terrible and I would never want to diminish the death of even one of our brave men and women who have been fighting for us in the past ten years. But the fact is that soldiers fight and soldiers die and even collateral damage in a war is atrocious but we can understand that. But this? This I can't understand.

Watching this clip made me think about it all over again. Notice Craig's brogue, rough with emotion and so much broader than we normally hear him talk. This man became a citizen in 2008. Sometimes I think the folks who choose to embrace America later in life have an even greater appreciation for this country. I don't know. But I like what Craig has to say. Watch it if you care to.
