I woke up a little hung over thanks to my son and his offering me a beer called Midus Touch, which is supposed to have ingrediants they found in a tomb somewhere in Egypt or maybe Seatle, I don't know. But it is 9% alcohol or something outrageous like that. I like to drink but not get shitfaced. Thanks to Midus Touch I went over the line on Tues.
My mom had surgery this morning. I was supposed to meet my sister at the hospital after I dropped my little one at school. But, she gets sick so I have to take her to my mom and dad's house where my other sister graciously watched her. I gave my dad his morning pills, started coffee and let out the dog.
I realized that I took all the keys with me to my mom's house so my husband has no car keys to drive to work with.
I drive back to the house and switch keys/cars.
Go to the hospital and spend five magic hours waiting for mom to get out of surgery and into her room. (the surgery went well, thank God for that)
I drive back to my house and quickly pack up my stuff to go pick my oldest kid up from college. (A two hour drive from my house) Get stuck in traffic in Annapolis, something about Naval academy and graduation and shutting down major roads. Make it to my kids college late but alive. Pull into a parking spot at her quad to start loading up when I realize that antifreeze is pouring out of the car like it's been stuck with Ruby's knife. Smoke is billowing from the engine. Not looking good.
Call AAA and they take for ever to get there but my kid still has one more final so it is all good. AAA tows us to a gas station. That is CLOSED. How much help is it to get towed to a closed gas station. Luckily the gas station attendent was a sweetheart and he took pity on two girls on their own and loaded up the car with water, ran it for a while and gave us instructions about what to do when/if it overheated on the way home. My husband told me to drive with the heater on full blast to take any heat away from the engine. I was wearing sandels so my feet were baking for two hours in the car.
Bay Bridge is down to one lane in each direction. I hate driving at night with lights glaring at me. On a bridge. Way, way above the water.
Acckk.
Almost make it home but there is construction at least four times before I get there, the last time leaves me only two exits from my house in wall to wall traffic at 11pm on Wed. night. Get home, to find my neighbors cat that I am watching (while she is honeymooning in PARIS) is missing. Can't find him at all.
My oldest daughter is grumpy (yes she had three finals today and just sat through most of the above with me) because I left a vacumm cleaner in her room. (I vacuumed before I left to pick her up this morning because I wanted her rug clean but never put the vacuum away. She said she was sorry that she snapped at me, but I didn't care, I just wanted to crawl into bed and chill. She is still pissed though and so am I. It is a miracle we having killed each other.
So I am whining gang. Sorry. But I could cry after today.
Again, my mom is doing well that is good. And we made it home without the car blowing up. I should be thankful huh?
