I thought about that exact same thing as you on mentors v. stylists in the Stockyard when I was writing "Nowhere to Stand" because while I realize Cinna was important to Katniss, logistically mentors would typically make more sense.

But then I ran into two issues. The second one is the exact same one you describe: not being there in Mentor Central for the starting gong and the bloodbath, arguably the most dangerous time of the Games. But I was probably lucky the first one tipped me off to the issue pretty decisively in a way you wouldn't get in dealing with Four.

Namely, there's one Haymitch (and all the other districts have had this "one living victor" issue at some point in the past) and there's two tributes in separate launch rooms.

I wonder if there's a comm on LJ for Hunger Games canon like there was (is) for Battlestar Galactica canon... A research hub where fic writers can ask a question and people who already know can answer. Or discuss to work out the logic of things.

I'm still on the fence regarding BB. One good idea came out of my post the other day (and by "good" I mean one that got me thinking), but I don't think it'll keep me interested long enough to write it AND Treading Water at the same time. And I can't back off of TW -- my head would explode.

How would Katniss get her jacket on if Cinna weren't there to help? Haven't you read all that post-MJ fic? Katniss is a helpless flailing bunny. Also, Haymitch isn't going to give her one last orgasm before she gets in the tube, therefore, Cinna is NECESSARY.

Sadly, they have blocked the Pit here at work. (And what is truly interesting about that is that it was blocked before I ever tried to access it. Since they only block either the really obvious sites or the ones that they find out are "bad" from people accessing them, that means someone here at work reads fic. BUT I DON'T KNOW WHO!)

The moment in the movie where Cinna's there just for her jacket kind of makes me go, "Really?" I realize they probably didn't want to go the route of having them get fully dressed on screen, but it's still kind of funny.

Yeah, even when I'm in the office I can't access jack shit. No LJ, no IJ, can't even do Pandora for some music. It's ridiculous. About the only thing I can reliably get is Wikipedia and news sites. I imagine FF.net would make it explode.
