In other news, after speculating with azelmaroark the other day that it made more sense for the mentors to accompany the tributes to the Launch Room Stockyard, rather than the stylists, I discovered last night in working on the next chapter of Treading Water that maybe there is a very valid logistical reason.
The arena, and thus the Launch Room Stockyard, can be anywhere in Panem, possibly hours away, even by hovercraft. The Training Center is in the Capitol. I haven't seen mentioned anywhere save in fic that the Games headquarters building, the location of which is left vague, is located anywhere but in the Capitol, probably near the Training Center and the Remake Center.
But be that as it may, in my fic, the TC and Games HQ are in the same complex, right next door to each other. Which makes it pretty much impossible for the mentors to accompany the tributes to the arena and still be in HQ to monitor the Games and the needs of their tributes. Since there's only one escort per district, it makes sense to have the stylists accompany the tributes to the arena and help them get dressed in whatever clothes are provided for the Games.
Which resulted in my making a minor correction to chapter 21. *headdesk*
Oy.
