Right in the middle of June, Kevin saw something he never thought was possible. His eyes then followed Dongho’s form nervously, waiting for the approaching waiter for what seemed like eternity.

(Alexander frowned with a small pout forming, leaning his head on his palm as he stared at a certain regular customer.)

-

Kibum had been taking a sip of his double espresso, then returning to typing thoughtfully on his laptop. There will be the usual pauses as the customer tried to think of what to write next, and then the sudden typing with those swift fingers. He would stay concentrated on his work at hand, hardly distracted by any noise.

All in all, it was the usual.

While Kevin placed the order of a couple on their table, Dongho then led a well-dressed and rather young lady to an empty seat nearby Kibum. The older waiter then excused himself after checking if there were any other orders, heading back to the counter due to the lack of customers at the shop entrance or any hands raised.

And then it happened.

The lady stopped following behind Dongho and instead stopped at Kibum’s seat, moving slightly away as she leaned down to check if Kibum was who she thought he was. Dongho turned back a little late, after he reached the customer’s supposed seat, and then realising his customer had stopped at Kibum’s table instead.

“Kibummie!” The lady laughed, patting Kibum’s shoulder as she took a seat opposite the said man without asking for permission. They seemed really close, although Kevin never saw such a person in his whole life at the café before. “I didn’t think I would see you here!”

“Neither did I.” Kibum smiled in recognition, watching Dongho hurry back to possibly take his friend’s order from the corner of his eyes. “A cup of iced mocha please. Thank you, Dongho.”

Dongho nodded as he stopped in his tracks, then turning to the counter where a very anxious Kevin awaited his arrival.

“Wow, still remember what I like, huh?” The lady chuckled, bringing down Kibum’s screen to take a look at what the other was doing. Kibum didn’t stop her, nor minimize the browser as if cautious. He merely let her do what she wanted to, even though he told Kevin he didn’t like people reading his raw works. “You’re still writing?”

“Never stopped, actually.” Kibum nodded, then leaning back in his seat comfortably. “So Juliet, are you coming back for a trip or something? I thought you moved away.”

“Ah, some things to do, you know.” The said Juliet vaguely replied, then readjusting the screen of the laptop, almost a little too purposefully. “Errands to run, things to wrap up. Maybe you to meet.”

“Then you sure did meet me.” Kibum lightly chortled, taking the clue. “I assume life is pretty good?”

“It could get better from now on.” The radiant face was literally shining with happiness, and Kibum brought his hand out for the other to shake with a similar bright face, words unsaid. “Thank you, I guess that means you are willing to free up your Sunday in the first week of August?”

“I thought you would never ask.” Kibum joked, then releasing his grip on Juliet’s hand.

There was a little bit more of small talk when Kevin arrived at their table with Juliet’s order.

“A cup of iced mocha.” Kevin announced, placing the drink closer to the lady while passing the serviette over. “Sorry for the wait. Are there any other orders?”

“No, thank you.” The lady politely replied, reaching for the cup of coffee on the table.

“Thank you, Kev.” Kibum smiled, and Kevin hurriedly shook his head with a light blush colouring his cheeks. The waiter then excused himself and almost ran back to the counter.

-

“What happened!” Alexander asked, eyes wide as if thirsty for information. He chanted the same two words as Kevin busied himself with wiping the tray and rearranging the magazine rack nearby.

“N-Nothing.” Kevin fidgeted, wanting nothing more than to hit his own head.

It was so silly for him to be so uptight about whoever talked to Kibum, especially since Kibum is a grown man with very good manners. Of course he would have friends who recognised him and wanted to have a chat. It doesn’t matter the gender, the age, the looks and whatnots, it was just a friendly chat.

And even if it wasn’t, it’s not like it has anything to do with Kevin.

“Are they dating?” Alexander sadly asked, disliking Kevin’s edgy behaviour and instantly the lady opposite Kibum.

“No!” Kevin exclaimed as soon as he registered Alexander’s question, before embarrassedly excusing himself, stating that he needed the washroom.

“I don’t get it.” The oldest of the crew sighed, deciding he would have to clear some orders before interrogating Kevin again.

-

“She’s engaged. I saw the ring on her hand.” Kevin helpfully supplied, cutting off Alexander’s imaginative side and his very big mouth. Returning back to work with a bright smile plastered over his face, Kevin then left with two menus and a tray towards a couple waiting patiently at the shop entrance.

Kiseop nudged the other barista, shaking his head in amusement as Kevin left and Dongho arrived with an order. “What are you actually planning?”

“Nothing~!” Alexander sang, relief washed over his face as he danced away to brew a cup of cappuccino. His mood instantly got better, since his daily show was once again, saved.

“He’s younger than you, isn’t he?” Dongho stated with a straight face, addressing Kiseop. “It’s impossible that this very childish guy is older than you, yeah?”

“I heard that, you imp!” Alexander glared at the youngest, huffing as he placed the cup of cappuccino on Dongho’s tray. “How dare you!”

“Oh, whatever did I say wrongly?” The waiter widened his eyes and covered his mouth in fake surprise, before grinning widely with the tray in his hands. “Childish Alexander!”

“How dare you speak informally to me!” Alexander whined, tugging Kiseop’s sleeve to gather help while Dongho got further away. “He’s bullying me!”

Kiseop shook his head with a laugh. “I think he’s right.”

Alexander gave his most menacing look, then huffing once more when it didn’t quite work. “Ugh, you guys would be the death of me someday.”
