Boating and Tropical Storm

Aug 15, 2007 09:10

So yesterday I spent the whole day on a boat in the gulf. Where we are at (Tampa and clearwater region) the Gulf is very shallow. WE were two miles out and it was only about 10 feet deep. From one island, you can walk the entire mile and a half, it's about 5 feet deep. At any rate, me and the fam went snorkeling for several hours. We went out to a sandbar/island that we than had a bbq at. We than swam for another hour before we went back to sailing on our 30 ft. boat. Saw some stingrays and some dolphins along with various types of fishes.
So it was a great day. The only really crappy thing is the heat, but I've not been too badly afftected by the humidity and heat. Not things were used to in California. Today has been chill, all the fam but me got burns from the big ball in the sky. I am way to careful with the sun to allow that to happen (NOW that is)

So we actually are seeing some waves from the tropical storm in the gulf on the texas side, but it's still nothing compared to the SoCal waves (these are less than a foot in the Gulf)
