So tonight I'm surfing through our many channels....(425 to be exact) when I run across a channel that plays vintage...thats right vintage episodes of Family Double Dare. I immediately dropped what I was doing ( admitedly it wasn't much seeing as how I was surfing through 425 channels of C-span and Trading Spaces) to watch! For those of you who have never seen, which I believe its a sin if you haven't, its an old game show they played on Nicklelodean, in which two familys compete, ( the red and the blue team) for various technological wonders of the 80's....i.e Dual head VCRs, Casio Keyboards with, get this, 27 different "Styles," and dual cassete player Boom Boxses. These were won through various Trivia games and "physical challenges," which is basically a nice name for games played with multi colored slimes. I had really forgotten how great this show was. However, I think the best aspect of this show was the final relay.....it was IMPOSSIBLE to beat. The teams had a whopping 60 seconds to complete 9 challenges! If I've done my math correctly thats a mere 6.68 seconds per event! Which is far to small to do anything. In all my years of FDD watching I only saw one family win that final relay. ( Kudos, Solomon family of Westchester, Illinois.....if it wasn't for Jakes quick thinking in the giant nose picking event you never would have won that Mini-van). In fact, as I watched it tonight I found myself on the edge of the couch screaming at the T.V. If it hadn't been for Dale getting his fat ass stuck under that giant rolling pin I think they might have had a fighting chance! But you know what the funniest thing was about all this. I was blessed because the episode that I happened to catch was a celebrity edition! Playing for the blue team was Laura from Family Matters & playing for the red team was a kid I had never seen nor heard of before in my life! Although I'm quite sure that whoever this "celebrity" child was, he is now living in San Fransisco with his partner Frank, their matching Volkswagon Beetles and a Shitzu named Mr. Ballsey, cause this kid was flaming!
