For Memorial weekend we ended up finding a very interesting resort in a town far North of this every growing sprawl, the City of Carefree. Laid back, eclectic, but nice. We are staying in a place that is in no doubt larger then are condo. The Smooch found a deal online for $128 but they claimed we asked for a smoking room - which we would never do. So we were given a free upgrade. We already wanted a villa in the place - a short distance away from the main hotel. The place is actually a quadplex. Two large residences on the bottom and two larger on the top. Plus we're right next to a large pool. We have kitchen - fridge, microwave, stove, sink, and a dishwasher plus lots of utensils, plates, pans - all the basics. Sadly we didn't bring any food or drinks not knowing we'd have the room from them. Two bathrooms?! Huge jet spa tub. Dining area. Living area. Gas fireplace - operated via remote but looks to be turned off for the Summer. Also dog friendly!
We had a 'snack' at 5 and reservations for some place at 9. 2 and half margaritas later, a pizza, and some wings Michelle had and we were done for the night. Stayed in the pool till 10:30. Everyone in the pool was also a local doing the same thing we were doing - just taking a mini-vacation at a local resort. They even had the same list of places we had or had been to for the valley resorts. There were several women with fake breast no less. Michelle of course asked if their breast were fake and they came right out with the truth. The staff are really nice. i did get a little sick after being in the hot tub too long but after i cooled down i was okay.
While at the bar for the 'snack' the Smooch wormed our way into a chef's dinner being held tomorrow. We were supposed to give 48 hours notice but we didn't know anything about it till we got here. So by chance the manager came by and she showed him her business card and told him she was chef and if we could get in on the dinner. Shortly afterwards a women came by and asked for our info and asked if we had any food allergies to look out for and that was it - we were in. Of course it's not for free but this special multiple course dinner is $200 - per person or couple i don't know yet. Either way will make up for skipping dinner tonight.
Now off to get more sore neck to bed.
