Summary: Wake up, Hannanore, the Prince of Canillo has asked for your hand.
Rating: G
Notes: Analise is the third child of Heinrich III of Konte and his queen, Anna of Grobe. Hannanore is the youngest child at 18 in 1127 AW. Rinnovare is a movement that started in Canillo in the mid 1000s.
“Analise,” her mother said coming into her room.
Analise looked up from the letter she was reading. It was from Henri, the King of Monde. She hadn’t expected him to write to her personally, but the letter had arrived anyway.
“Yes?”
“Would you go wake up your sister? She’s going to be late for breakfast.”
“Hannanore is always late for breakfast,” Analise said.
“Yes, I know, but her father wants to speak to her about marriage prospects.”
Analise raised her eyebrow. Her mother sighed.
“He’s trying to be more open with his children, as an example of a Rinnovarian monarch.”
Analise laughed softly. “I didn’t think Papa cared much for the ideals of a Rinnovarian man.”
Anna smiled. “Well, he does. So would you go wake up your sister? Her ladies have already tried. She always listens to you.”
“I’ll try, Mama.”
Anna kissed her daughter on the cheek before leaving. Analise sighed and pulled on her dressing gown. She left her rooms and walked down the hall towards her sister’s quarters.
She knocked gently on the door. No one answered, so she went in.
Her sister’s quarters were quite simply: a mess. Hannanore had never been an organized individual. She had dropped her dolls wherever when she was a girl and now as a young woman, her gowns and jewels were thrown across the couches in the sitting room.
Analise shook her head. She felt sorry for the servants.
She walked on into the main bedroom. Hannanore’s blonde head was sticking out from under an embroidered green coverlet. Her bare feet were hanging out from the other side.
Analise bent down beside her. She shook her gently.
“Hanna.”
Hannanore sighed and turned her head away from Analise. Analise shook her harder.
“Hanna, I know you can hear me. Wake up!”
Hannanore sighed in her sleep.
“The Prince of Canillo sent an offer for your hand.”
Hannanore shot up out of the bed.
“Oh really Lise?”
Analise smiled at her sister. “I knew that’d get you out of bed.”
Hannanore frowned at her sister. “That was a dirty trick, Lise!”
“It wasn’t a trick. Father does want to talk about your marriage prospects.”
“Why would he want to talk to me?”
Analise shrugged. “Mother says he wants to be an ideal Rinnovarian monarch.”
Hannanore climbed out of the bed. “Papa thinks that whole movement is stupid.”
“Well apparently, he’s had a change of heart. So get dressed and come down to breakfast.”
Hannanore pouted. Analise grinned at her sister.
“I’m coming.”
“That’s my girl.”
Analise smiled at her sister once more, before leaving the room. Now if she could make it down in a reasonable time, then everything would be perfect.
