Notes: This takes place in 1119 AW in the eleventh month. Anna is around two months pregnant with her first child. She and Henri have been married for about four weeks.
“The plans are being made for your coronation,” Henri said at the other end of the table.
Anna smiled at him. She looked at her side where the Princess Marie was sitting and not eating her dinner.
“Princess Marie, are you looking forward to the coronation?” Anna asked.
Marie didn’t say anything. She picked up her goblet and drank from it.
Anna looked at Henri. He shrugged.
“You’ll get to wear the grandest gowns, Marie. After me and your grandmother, you are the highest ranking woman in the country.”
Marie looked up then.
“But what about my mother?” Marie asked.
Anna drew in a quick breath, she looked quickly at Henri, who was about to say something.
“Your mother is no longer queen, sweetheart,” Anna said catching her breath.
Marie stared at Anna with her piercing blue eyes. She had her mother’s eyes and noticing this made Anna very uncomfortable.
“Speaking of the Infanta,” Anna said turning away from the young girl. “She still has Queen Adeline’s jewels. She is no longer queen, they belong to me now.”
Henri nodded. “I shall have Claude retrieve them before the coronation.”
“I want them now,” Anna said angrily.
Marie looked at her father. She expected him to react angrily to this woman’s rashness, but to her surprise he smiled.
“And you will have them. I’ll have Claude go today. Does that suit you, my lady?”
Anna smiled. “Yes that suits me fine, sweetheart.”
Henri smiled. Anna looked at Marie who was determinedly staring down at her plate.
The girl was just like her mother. She had that hot Ibonian blood flowing through her veins. She intended to shake that right out of her.
