Last weekend I went to ClickerExpo in Chicago. It was fabulous, and I will write up a summary of all the awesome things I learned at some point when I've caught up on sleep (got home at 3am last Sunday and my sleep schedule's been wacky since) and reviewed my notes.

Just busted out my new snowshoes and took them for a spin. The pup and I were the first ones on the path or in the field, except for a set of animal tracks that I at first thought were made by an unaccompanied dog, but then realized were probably coyote tracks (especially since they didn't follow the path, but instead cut across the field, crossed ( Read more... )

I've taken four out of the six pets in for checkups this week (birds, rabbit, and dog), and all were pronounced glowingly healthy. The parrots got to help teach a new vet tech how to towel and restrain a bird for a throat swab. The vet tech who saw the dog said, "I can't believe this is the same dog!" Huzzah ( Read more... )

We've started to introduce the dog to the parrots. He's so freaking mellow and so non-reactive to their scent and noises and the sight of them through a cage that we decided he was ready. Plus, it is killing me that the parrots don't get to be out flying around as much as they used to ( Read more... )

Since transversely and I are looking into adopting a dog, I've been reading about raw feeding once again. We currently raw feed our cats, but we use a pre-packaged ground raw mix from Bravo. We've been really happy with this mix, and it was a good way to convince transversely, who is a somewhat meat-squeamish vegetarian, to switch to raw food ( Read more... )
