Ultraviolet as a movie made absolutely no sense. It was a fight between humans and vampires and a virus and this and that. Still made no sense.

Loved the styling, though. From the anime hair to the random color-changing outfits to the fetishization of the medical profession, I enjoyed the visuals.

Just watched 24 Hour Party People again. It always makes me kind of wistful, because it has a peculiar style to it that somehow conveys a sense of feeling that I can't quite duplicate by saying "oh, the movie feels like a drug trip". Not quite true, but there you go ( Read more... )

Howl's Moving Castle is definitely a Miyazaki film, bizarre but cool and inventive. Definitely a bit less trippy and a bit more expansive than Spirited Away; a bit less expansive than Princess Mononoke, but that's okay. An almost-excellent film worth watching.

Pros:
