Erg, I just tried to post and it erased my post, grrrrrr
So to try to recreate:
The first thing is that I was in a friends missing mood today and it really cheered me up to read you talking. I read and thought, "Ruthy, I love you".
Next, I voted with ulterior motives, I want you to see farscape so you can fill in the gaps for me (I've only seen a few episodes). And can I vote against Kids next Door (bleh, I hate that show)? I've heard that the L-word is both really good and really hot. And I feel I should put in a word for my guilty pleasures, Charmed and Stargate: SG-1 (Guilty as charged I looooooooooooove stargate).
Last thing is look! I'm not anonymous anymore! (I can take polls yeah!) And I have Gorebash!
I love you too! Even though I chose reading a book and napping a lot over calling you this weekend. *ahem* It was a good book...
Hee! The disadvantage to Farscape is that the DVDs are not sequential. By which I mean the first disc has episodes 1 and 4, the second one has episodes 2 and 7, and so forth.
I think Kids Next Door is on there because someone I know was talking about it. I'm not even sure I know what it is, but I'll keep your anti-rec in mind.
I've heard that about The L Word from other people.
Since you love them so much, I might have to try Charmed and Stargate: SG-1. They've never captured me before, but maybe it's different if you start from the beginning.
Yay! Now you just have to learn about the friends list. Ah, the friends list. Your friends page makes it much easier to keep track of the LJs you read. Disadvantage: My friends list now has 19 people. I don't like the number 19.
The first few seasons of the X-Files are good, before they go all crazy with aliens and crap.
Have you watched House? I'm watching House. Mmm, evil snarky doctors. It amuses me because it takes place in my town (or okay, Mom's town, but whatever)
I like Next Generation best of all Star Treks... DS9 is pretty good once they get Worf, but Voyager sucks (though I heard it gets better once they get the courtesy tits 7 of 9, but the first season destroyed me... boring.)
I watched X-Files through my sophomore year in college. I might not have watched even that far, but my sophomore roommate was into it too. The only later episodes I've seen (I think) are the one where they killed off the Lone Gunmen (Amy: Killing Byers is like kicking a puppy.), which does have a redeeming Skinner/Scully moment, and the second half of the series finale, which I watched in the hotel room after graduation.
Mmm, House. I love House. You must have missed my poll with the House/Baby Chase question. There was one episode that I both missed and forgot to tape, but I think I caught it in reruns
( ... )
It's funny, I never rec DS9 because I thought it got annoying really fast (though I was a devoted watcher for the first couple seasons). But one of my big problems with it was Kira, so I can see that if you did like her then it would be pretty good (though not as good as TNG of course)
I'm watching this old movie with Ann Margaret called "Made in Paris", and it's pretty funny got lots of that 70's conflict: to sex or not to sex. And I was pretty amused by a man describing this girl as wanting a night of "almosts": almost danger, almost love, almost sex. It just struck me as interesting... and it's late so I'm typing too much...and, um, I'll go now.
We clearly have different ideas about "really fast." I only watched the first two or three seasons. What didn't you like about Kira? Bajoran women were hot, except for the evil Vedek (Winn, I think). (No Star Trek is as good as TNG. I have all these happy memories of having you and Laura spend the night on Saturday nights and watching TNG and eating pizza in the living room. Every once in a while on a Saturday, I have to order pizza and sit on the floor to eat it while watching TNG.)
