[...how many books does he have there? Why does he have five of them open at once? He's not reading all of them at once, is he?

Yes. Yes he is. He goes through them, flicking through pages and comparing passages in each to those in others before making notes on the differences and similarities and the implications of this and has he even slept since ( Read more... )

From my notes, I have found these worlds:

My world, the World of Balance
Sephiroth and Zack's Gaia
Kuja's Gaia
The World of Light and Darkness, from which the keybearers and Organization come from
Selphie and Squall's world
The world of the Warrior of Light
The world of Firion
Your world

I've seen people from varying times. Cloud has appeared as a young man and as a boy and as an older boy. Sephiroth's Gaians seem the most scattered.

I haven't kept track of the dead (though I really should) but I'd say most of the Organization appeared asking if they were dead. And Zack.

Do you know any significance to putting X in a name?

Two Gaias? Are they related at all, do you know?

It would mean that the name was a letter longer, I suspect. That's something the Oranization members seem to have in common, isn't it? It's not something I'd considered until now.

Not that I'm aware of. The magic they brought here is very different, both from each other and from my own.

They all have that, as well as missing their hearts. Have they anagrammed their names to include the X as a symbol of this? Did they choose new names of a different culture to show their difference? Are they all from a place that uses X names?

Does your world have gods and an afterlife?

It must be coincidence, I suppose.

If they're from the same place as the keybearers then I think the last possibility there is ruled out. I'd assume it's an attempt at displaying a difference or strengthening the idea that they're a group.

I wouldn't know about an afterlife because NOBODY EVER STAYS DEAD IN MY CANON. As for gods, I've never met them but the prayers of white mages tend to get answered.

[Palom suddenly looks taken aback. This is made slightly more obvious by the fact that he knocks a pile of books over in his surprise and dashes offscreen for a few seconds to collect them.]

...from Mysidia?

[He pauses briefly while he goes over all of that in his head. Nothing else sounds familiar but...]

Mysidia was my home but- I don't recognise your friend's name. Or much else.

Are you-

[He shakes his head, none of his business, and moves only a vaguely less uncomfortable topic briefly.]

Magic seems to differe greatly between worlds. In my home, everyone possessed innate magic that could be trained as they wished. In Cissnei's world, they seem to have to rely upon devices called materia that emulate innate magic. I thought that by examining the differences between the magics of everyone here I might come closer to understanding whatever brought us here.

[He wants to know more about- Kefka did say people seemed to be coming from different times. Maybe this man's Mysidia is his own in the past or future. He doesn't recall any ( ... )

[Minwu. Minwu. Why was that name bothering him. It sounded like something his sister would go on and on about and-

For a genius, he found himself feeling like a complete idiot a whole lot recently.]

Wait. Minwu- [And he scrambles for a blank sheet of paper] I don't know if it's the same man but. Minwu was the founder of Mysidia. It would have been more than 500 years ago, though, and I don't know much more. Mysidia records things far more dilligently than the rest of the world has, I don't believe any of the places you have mentionned have been recorded in any book I have read.

Can't say I know how many worlds, but none of us come from the exact same time. A guy here's been travelin' with me for ages, but apparently he's got no clue who I am. [Shrug] Can't really say it's the strangest thing ever.

So people can come from a range of different times. He came from before you? And yet you still remember him from a time when he claims not to have been there?

Yeah, which is pretty strange now that I'm thinkin' about it. Brawny went and arrived here after I did, though, so maybe that's got somethin' to do with it.

A whole generation apart? So 500 years might be possible...

No summonning? from what I know of that magic I suppose it would make sense. If we came into this world against our will and cannot leave, perhaps the summons are simply incapable of finding thier summoner here.

Yes. I was told some of the people here recall dying before finding themselves here. It doesn't seem to be universal but knowing just how many and seeing if there's any patterns may shed some light on the nature of this place.
