page 002 - Palom has Questions [Video]

[...how many books does he have there? Why does he have five of them open at once? He's not reading all of them at once, is he?

Yes. Yes he is. He goes through them, flicking through pages and comparing passages in each to those in others before making notes on the differences and similarities and the implications of this and has he even slept since ( Read more... )

[Palom suddenly looks taken aback. This is made slightly more obvious by the fact that he knocks a pile of books over in his surprise and dashes offscreen for a few seconds to collect them.]

...from Mysidia?

[He pauses briefly while he goes over all of that in his head. Nothing else sounds familiar but...]

Mysidia was my home but- I don't recognise your friend's name. Or much else.

Are you-

[He shakes his head, none of his business, and moves only a vaguely less uncomfortable topic briefly.]

Magic seems to differe greatly between worlds. In my home, everyone possessed innate magic that could be trained as they wished. In Cissnei's world, they seem to have to rely upon devices called materia that emulate innate magic. I thought that by examining the differences between the magics of everyone here I might come closer to understanding whatever brought us here.

[He wants to know more about- Kefka did say people seemed to be coming from different times. Maybe this man's Mysidia is his own in the past or future. He doesn't recall any ( ... )

[Minwu. Minwu. Why was that name bothering him. It sounded like something his sister would go on and on about and-

For a genius, he found himself feeling like a complete idiot a whole lot recently.]

Wait. Minwu- [And he scrambles for a blank sheet of paper] I don't know if it's the same man but. Minwu was the founder of Mysidia. It would have been more than 500 years ago, though, and I don't know much more. Mysidia records things far more dilligently than the rest of the world has, I don't believe any of the places you have mentionned have been recorded in any book I have read.

Never. My sister was better read in history than I am but I don't think I would forget a whole kingdom.

[Palom isn't too good at noticing when he's about to stomp on someone's feelings. He wouldn't deliberately, but...]

...Where what?

[He's actually realized he's stepping on uncomfortable ground, now. About a million tags too late.]

I see. I apologize for your loss.

[He wants to keep asking because this is interesting and there is so, so much information here and it can't all be a coincidence but.]

If you think so.

If your Minwu really was the same then it'll have been five centuries. Longer. Wars get fought in that time. Kingdoms rise, kingdoms-

[He consideres tact way, way too far into that paragraph. There is an awkward pause and then-]

...get renamed?

[He's trying, at least!]
