Wow! That does suck - I'll think Job Mojo for you.

Drilling - all over Colorado and Wyoming. Insane amounts of jobs in Colorado according to my mother.

We've done a bit of research for Wyoming, but haven't looked too close at Colorado yet. It was my understanding that the market is almost flooded there, except around the national and state parks (which are almost impossible to receive drilling rights for). I'll make sure to look more thoroughly though - Colorado would be in the top 3 for my choices. Thanks!

I can Google around - what kind of position are you looking for?

Someone in the know suggested the Department of the Interior, Denver office.

Funny, I logged on so I could post my own rant and saw yours. 2009 is not starting great for you. At least they didn't let you go before the holidays (if you celebrate). I was "let go" December 21,2001. Yeap 4 days before Christmas and 11 days before our annual bonus (10% of your annual pay), but you HAD to be on payroll the day the checks are cut ( ... )

Comfort and congrats on your own job switch! Laying off at the holidays should be illegal - especially with people who have kids/dependants. As it is, there are a few positions available for me... at a significant pay cut. OR I can dig into some research and propose a new office site for leasing and drilling. The second option is much more appealing since it comes with almost a double in salary, plus stock options.

Whichever the case, I've got enough for about six weeks of bills/rent before things get hairy, and my landlord is an absolute doll about it. No panic on the horizon - more of a deep sorrow and mild antipathy toward the boss for how and when he did the dirty, y'know?

Anyhow, thanks for the words of encouragement! It means a helluva lot to know that there are others in a similar position who have landed on their feet. Huge hugs and smiling tears to ya, dear.

Ouch! So sorry to hear that! I am no help in the practical department, I'm afraid, but sending all good thoughts and vibes your way.

That works just as well, thanks hun. Me and the kids are discussing our options - we've got enough of a cushion to be comfortable for about six weeks, but after that it'll start to get really rough.

The up side is that my son is finally understanding why an alternate source of income is almost mandatory, and has volunteered to get either one full-time or two part-time jobs to add to the cushion while my daughter and I work on more long term plans.

With rain comes growth, right? *lol*
