Following from the 50% income tax idea for incomes over £150,000 and having recently been watching a fair amount of West Wing I thought I would do a little taxation investigation.
For 2008/2009 approximately 1% of the UK population were taxed according to an income of over £150,000. Their contribution was... 22.7% of the total income tax revenue. By contrast, the 14% of people who are taxed according to an income of under £10,000 contributed... 1% of the total income tax revenue.
As a result I propose that the Subdeci(as they shall hereafter be called) should compensate for their shortfall by offering to perform suitable menial tasks for the Pencenturions such as car washing, silver polishing and pool cleaning. Sadly Alistair Darling's recent proposed taxation change will increase that shortfall, so this should be considered when services are being offered.
