Just so you know: this is going to be another rant. But honestly, the first episode of the season set my expectations so low, that I can't bring myself to attack episode two with any amount of vitriol. And I have nothing new to say, anyway. This episode merely confirmed that The Empty Hearse-with its endless winks to the audience, its blatant pandering, its cartoonish humor, its bad pacing, its meaningless filler at the expense of telling an actual story-was not just a fluke, but the new status quo. To the point where I now have to decide if I actually want to be in this fandom. Because why would I want to explore two people who have already become caricatures of themselves?
And that's really all I can say. I don't have the energy to dissect this episode's problems. I hardly have the energy to watch the finale.
NO WAIT there's something I do need to complain about. The one thing they decided to keep from the original The Sign of Four was the offensive pygmy with a blowdart scenario? Really?!?!
On a tangentially related topic: I've been watching Elementary and loving it more and more. It took a while for me to warm up to it, and I don't necessarily feel fannish about it, but boy, that show has really grown into something. Ugh, let's not even talk about Sherlock. Let's discuss Elementary instead.
