Well

Today was the first day of the thyroid scan, to see if I have Graves' Disease or not. Tomorrow I go back and I think they said it would be shorter. I hope so.

In the morning, after not being able to eat breakfast or drink any water, I had to swallow a radioactive isotope. If I'd been on the ball, I should have asked the nurse if I would have superpowers afterwards.

Then I had to go back in the afternoon for the actual scan. It was in one of those big machines that have the donut-y looking thing at one end. My feet went toward that while a large grey panel thing extended out over me and got about two inches away from my face. Good thing I'm not claustrophobic. It was a tad uncomfortable with it so close to my face, but I wasn't allowed to move my neck or head. I tried closing my eyes but that made me feel a little dizzy, like I was floating in space. Weird. Anyway, so I laid there for about... 20 minutes maybe? Super boring. Of course, that made me think of my little brother who, when he was getting his radiation treatments for his lymphoma had an actual face mask that bolted him into place so he couldn't move.

Perspective. It is a good thing.

So I got a day off work to lay around in a hospital. Yay. However, on the way home something smacked into my car, on the little triangle window that's just behind the passenger side mirror. This thing.

I could hear the whistling of the wind through the hole. Amazingly enough, that looks to be the extent of the damage. I see what might be a scratch on the back of the mirror, but I'm not too concerned about that. I feel like I should be angrier at this - my car is only two years old but really, it could have been worse. What if it had hit my windshield?

Like I said: perspective.

But that's just one more thing I have to deal with this week. I'm a little embarrassed to admit this, but since I've never had cause to use my car insurance, I don't even know if something like this is covered under my plan. I have emergency funds to pay for something like this, but still, I feel like this is something an adult should know. I'd let it sit, but I should probably get it fixed while the weather is good. Water damage is the last thing I need right now.

And my netbook's power adapter continues to be stupid.

first world problems, computer, health blah blah
