**Some Spoilers ahead**
Last night I saw Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. All I can say is: Wow. There were some definite changes from the book but the only one I minded was that they nearly ignored the noble side of Faramir and had him take Frodo all the way to Gondor instead of releasing them in Ithelien. That ticked me off but at least they had the bit about stories in, that was a nice way to end the movie.
Gollum/Smeagol is awesome. I've never seen a more realistic CG character. I felt sorry for him while reading the books but actually seeing him and his struggle against the Gollum side of his character was heart-breaking. I wouldn't be surprised if he won a Best Supporting actor role in the Oscars.
Things I really liked:
- Legolas and Gimli as they were keeping score at Helm's Deep.
- The focus on the common people of Rohan, their despair as boys no older than 12 were taken to fight.
- The flying dragon-like creatures that the Nazgul rode; very cool and creepy.
- The Ents!! Need I say more?
- Wormtongue; whoever played him was excellent, I felt repulsed every time he came on the screen.
- Eowyn; whoever played her did an awesome job as well
- Gimli's willingness to be tossed *lol*
Things I was rather disappointed in:
- Arwen's breast at the bottom of the screen, under easily see-through material. Yuck.
- The Ents did not decide at Entmoot to attack Isengard.
- Haldir's last stand. I can't say anything more.
- Faramir; In the book I found him to be an admirable noble man but the movie didn't show much of those qualities.
I can't think of anything else to write and breakfast is calling so I'll just leave with this comment, SEE IT!
